@kslade, I think the decline between doses is common during the Loading Dose phase. My husband had his 1st infusion while in the hospital on a Tuesday. He was released that Friday because he was so dramatically improved. By the following weekend, he about as bad as he was when admitted. He was...

Almost done with Prednisone but symptoms coming back

This happened to my husband on one of his tapers last year. According to one of my hub's docs, withdrawal symptoms of "normal" people coming off prednisone are pretty similar to the symptoms of IBD. (Just can't win!) So we slowed down the rate of the taper (added a week to each stepdown) and...

    Worried about Partner with UC

! :( just need some advise on trying to stay positive for him and look after him. I hate not being able to help him its horrible :( Hello Lou and welcome! I'm new here as well but it seems that there are many of us here who are in the same boat. It is VERY hard to be so powerless to help the...

    My Story ( Long )

Hello Bloom, and welcome! Wow. It sounds like you've come to the right place. I'm new here as well and though I don't have IBD myself (my husband...), I've read through many postings by others who have gone through similar harrowing ordeals before being properly diagnosed. I hope now that your...

    Our story

Yay! He's been successfully home for a week! After a minor set-back last Sunday, he has been home and we've been very slowly amping up the amount of food he is eating. Still VERY low residue and a lot of chicken noodle soup but today he also added pudding and my newly-invented Slow-Cooker...

Does Asacol do this to you?

Hello! My husband hasn't had that problem with Asacol. He gets the big D for when he's having a flare, but his dosage of Asacol is the same whether he's flaring or not. Can't really attest to it's usage for Crohn's though. Also, he just started Remicade and it's not so bad. He did go through 3...

    Separate meals?

Thanks for all the support and ideas. Right now he is on such a restricted diet (liquid/mush) that it's not even a question. I had a great rant earlier to my sister-in-law about how I got married so that I could stop cooking single-portion meals. I felt better after. :-)

GI Monitor - app for iPhone and soon Droid

I'm new to the forum but not new to GI Monitor. I found it for my husband to use starting in summer of 2009. He wasn't remembering to log everything in to the diary that we had built which was very frustrating for me. So I gave him an ipod touch loaded with the app. If he forgot to log things...

    That's a great idea! Thanks everyone! :D

    Separate meals?

This question is for all of those caregivers/spouses/partners/parents out there: What do you eat while "The Patient" is on a restricted diet? Do you do completely separate meals or do you try to eat a few items that are the same? I ask because my husband was just put on a Low Residue Diet which...

    Our story

Home again! No longer bleeding and taking hour long walks around the grounds will get you sent home. 3 weeks until the next Remicade. Hydrocortisone foam enemas, back on the Asacol, and on a high-fluid/low-residue diet. Fingers are crossed that he won't decline so far between now and the next...

    Remicade Club Support Group

New member of the club! He started 2 weeks ago, got round 2 yesterday. No side effects and only takes about 2 hours. Problem right now is that the immediate spectacular results don't seem to be lasting between infusions. Anyone else have that problem?

    Our story

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! Right now we are still very hopeful about the Remicade working. He does REALLY well for several days following the infusion and he's only had 2 so far. The problem is keeping him well enough between infusions while they increase the dosage. Does anyone...

    Our story

Hello everyone. It's about 1:00AM my time and I just got home from admitting my husband to the hospital for the second time this month. He was diagnosed with UC almost 2 years ago. He got sick for the first time about 3 months after we got married. As hard as it has been, we both know it could...
