    Have I been mis-diagnosed?

I'm not sure a biopsy was done... the doctor said "ah yes, this is Crohns" as he was actually doing the flexisig. I agree that it could be the meds keeping me well but is it unusual to be in remission for 3 years with no symptoms whatsoever? I also agree that I will need to speak to my doctor...

Hi All Just seeking some advice. I've been in pretty good health all my life until 3 years ago when I came down with diarrhea and weightloss which lasted the good part of 3 weeks. After going to see my GP and having a blood test I was sent for a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and was diagnosed with...

    Granulomatous hepatitis

Hi I've just received a letter from my doctor regarding my follow up appointment to my flexi-sig recently. It says: Diagnosis: Crohn's disease on flexible sigmoidoscopy - biopsies revealed granulomatous hepatitis. Just wondering whether this is something I should worry about? I've had trouble...

    Newly diagnosed & scared :(

I wouldn't get too worried. I am recently diagnosed... I was really ill for a time, but within two weeks of seeing my doctor and taking medication I'm pretty much well again. I guess its all about finding the right medication but you can live a very ordinary life.

    What next... ?

Thanks all for your replys... Just to update on my appointment on Monday: The doc has tapered my Pred from 40mg to 20mg for a week, then 10mg for 3 weeks. He has upped my Aza to 150mg from 100mg and I need to take 3 Ferrous Sulphate pills a day instead of 2. Seemed reasonably happy with my blood...

    What next... ?

I was diagnosed with Crohn's nearly 4 weeks ago after a flexi-sig. I was prescribed 40mg Pred, Azathioprine and Ferrous Sulphate. Apart from some pain when I have a BM which lasts a few hours (I think it could be piles?) I feel more or less ok - although I do feel very tired in the evenings...

Will try and cut out the red meat but I did used to enjoy the odd steak and a roast beef dinner, but I hear what your...

    Just Diagnosed

Thanks all for the advice. I did mean that for starters I am on 40mg of pred. No idea what I'll be on after that. Just one more thing for now... Should I try probiotic supplements? Any foods I should or shouldn't avoid?

    Just Diagnosed

Thanks for replying so quickly Dusty and for your advice. I am a little worried about the Prednisone - I think I'm on a high dosage of 40 mg too. But I guess for now I should just follow my doctors advise and stick with it. I have read alot about calcium - should I be taking calcium...
