Hi all

Not been on for a while - was diagnosed with Crohn's in October 2010 after suffering for 3 months with diarrhoea, tiredness, piles etc etc.
After being diagnosed I was put on Prednisone and Azathioprine and within a matter of weeks I was well again. Was tapered off the Preds and am now just taking 200mg of Aza per day and up until recently I was doing fine.

Over the last couple of months I've had these nightly episodes which seem to be happening around every 10 or so days. I will go to bed feeling fine and then wake up at 3am - 4am with a terrible stomach / abdominal pain. It feels a little like severe indigestion, burning, sore, aching pain that keeps me up all through the night. Nothing seems to work in getting rid of the pain - indegestion tablets, gaviscon etc, nothing works. Eventually the pain goes around 10 hours later. However this weekend it occured but was much more intense and lasted nearly 24 hours. I was on the verge of going to A&E but decided to try and see it through. A couple of days later I'm still feeling a little tender but I'm much better. There doesn't seem to be any reason I can put my finger on for these flare ups, i'm trying to catalogue what I eat on the days it happenes, but it seems unrelated.
I'm going to the toilet regularly and there is nothing unusual.

I'm going to see my GP this week but I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced any symptoms like this, or whether this is not Crohn's related at all?

Sounds like it could be your gallbladder--that is almost exactly what I was going through before I had mine removed. I would be in agony at night, nothing would make it better--antacid, anti-gas, heating pad, nothing.
I would have them check you for gallstones.

See a doc as soon as possible. They will probably do this anyway, but have them check your pancreatic enzymes and as others have said ask them about your gall bladder. They may want to do an ultrasound.

Don't delay on this. You could be having serious side effects from the 6MP. Ask about the Prometheus test to check your metabolite levels from the drug as well. Not sure if it's available in the UK or under what name.

Thanks all... having read the symptoms associated with gallbladder problems I'm convinced it's this now! Will be booking an appointment with my GP asap.
