Did you have colonoscopy under general anaesthetic?

I tried a colonoscopy with just light sedation (versed I think) but I am very resistant to pain/sedation meds. They had to put me out with propofol. I'll never do one again without propofol - too painful.

Anyone in NJ get a Medical Marijuana ID card??

I've been looking into this the past few days and it seems that the program is not implemented yet, which I am okay with because I understand that they need time to get things set up. What pisses me off though is that only NJ doctors can register with the state to prescribe MM! I'm seeing a...

Is it the bag or me??

So the cement I was referring to is called "Osto-Bond" and it's made of latex. Hopefully you aren't allergic. It made for an excellent skin-wafer seal. If its too much output that's the problem, I think they make bigger bags. I really liked coloplast's "assura" 2 piece system! Not sure if they...

    Diverticulitis or Crohns?

I talked to my doc today on the phone and the biopsies showed significant inflammation in my ileum, so along with the ulcers and past history of arthritis, episcleritis, etc, along with the Entocort working, I think we have a pretty certain diagnosis of Crohn's! I'm excited in that I finally...

    Diverticulitis or Crohns?

Makes sense, last time I had a B12 booster shot I felt like superman for the rest of the day! How often does one typically get the boosters and can they be self administered? I am not afraid of needles. If I recall correctly, B12 oral supplements didn't do much for me.

    Diverticulitis or Crohns?

Thanks for the tip David! I am waiting for bloodwork to come back before taking any vitamins but I bet I am deficient in both B-12 and D as before. My tongue has been hurting a lot lately and I think I've read it can be from a B-12 deficiency. Also I am ready to nap most days by 11:30 AM - 1...

Is it the bag or me??

Just to be clear, I was using pectin powder as a "soap" to help clean/heal the skin around the stoma. I never left it on my skin when applying the wafer, I would always clean it off with water and wipe any residue clean with a gauze pad, otherwise the wafer wouldn't stick!! Have you tried...

    Today sucks....

Hi CrohnsGirl, I am really sorry to hear about all you're going through, but hang in there!! When I had my ileostomy it ALWAYS acted up when it was time to change bag&wafer. It was like it was trying to sabatoge me!! I have one little trick that helped me which may also benefit you. I would...

Is it the bag or me??

When I had my ileostomy there were a few times when I almost had a leak. Then my ostomy nurse reccomended I use pectin powder. It serves 2 purposes. I found between changing bags, if I puffed pectin powder on the irritated skin around the stoma it would greatly increase the healing time and...

    Diverticulitis or Crohns?

Thanks all! What distinguishes a Crohn's flareup? I certainly am no where near the pain I had prior to my emergency surgery, but I just have a sorta on-going pain, like I was punched real hard in the gut a day ago and I'm still sore from it. Would that be a baseline pain from Crohns, or...

Anyone in NJ get a Medical Marijuana ID card??

I know the program is new to the state but I was wondering if anyone here has applied for a state issued ID card whether or not you've been accepted or rejected. I might be interested in applying at some point in the future but I have NO idea where to start! Any help would be appreciated...

    Sensitivity to light anyone?

I'm very sensative to light as well. During the summer months in particular I have to wear sunglasses or I can't see straight and feel very dizzy when I go outside on a sunny day! On a few occasions almost walked into lamp posts or trees because I can barely keep my eyes open when it's so sunny...

    "Free" Ostomy Supples

Places to Donate Supplies I used to have a colostomy & then later an ileostomy. The supplies ARE expensive!! There are a few good resources I want to share in case you don't know about them already (I can't post links yet, so just google them United Ostomy Association of America (UOAA)...

    Diverticulitis or Crohns?

My first post! I've had a history of gut issues for as long as I can remember, probably 10 years. I am currently 31. Back in 2008 I had a colonoscapy and my GI doctor thought I had Crohns but did not put me on a treatment plan. I had seriously low B12 and D levels so he gave me a booster...
