Hi all,
I thought it might help others looking for experience type threads, for me to write up about what happened to me.
Short history - I was rushed to hospital June 2011 with stomach pains so bad, I thought my time was up. Anyway I was diagnosed with Crohns, and told that I had a stricture in my terminal ileum about 25-30cm.
After my intestine ruptured around my stricture, and a nasty blood infection later, I was booked in to have the little bugger cut out.
The day of surgery was tough and I was nervous, but I knew it was for the best, so I just sucked it up and dealt with it.
I have to admit the first few days were really hard, and I regretted having the op. Even the most basic of functions was painful. I couldn't laugh, sneeze, cough or lie on my side, without being in pain.
I was sent home from hospital after 4 days, and I rested for 4 weeks before going back to work. My wound became infected week 2, then after A week on antibiotic, my recovery sky rocketed. I must admit that at week 3 I got really depressed, I had such a debilitating feeling of fatigue all the time, and the severe D was getting on my nerves.
Anyway, fast forward to week 10, and oh boy! What a difference. I am back running 3 times a week, and weight training twice a week, I can eat almost anything, and the D, while still present, has gone from liquid movements 5-6 times a day, to mildly soft 2-3 times. I am very happy overall, but it takes time to see the benefit.
Be patient and stay positive.
Thanks,
J
