Well its been 10 years and a few days since my diagnoses... I'm 18 and I don't think I remember a time without this killer.

Well I'm here because I am really depressed.. (Normal for people who have Crohns?)
I start police college in 3 days and I'm really skinny. I am 6'1 118 Lbs. Cannot gain weight at all. I am not currently sure if puberty has hit but I'm worried because I have hair on my legs but I'm loosing hair on my calves on both legs and I look weird if I wear shorts.

I was on Pred for about 3-4 years, could that still be affecting my puberty? I've been on Remicade for 5 years and I don't know what I would do without it. Little bits of THC have been helping me also with hunger. But even without it I eat a lot. I am skin and bones. I cannot find good workout plan for me with crohns. I actually want muscles...

The doctor put me on Entocort 3 pills a day because I had a colonoscopy and my small bowel didn't look to well at all. He couldn't even put the camera any further because of it but I have 0 pain. It is like I don't even have this disease. Except what is really stressing me out is the look of my body..

If anyone could help me that would be great!!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I am sorry to hear that you are still having problems caused by this nasty disease. Out of interest have you had any of your vitamin levels checked at all? People with crohns suffer from deficiences in this area and low levels might explain a couple of the symptoms you have.

With regards to trying to get some weight I must say I am somone who easily gains weight if I am not careful so I can't advise in this area. One thing I would say is it might be worth asking for a referral to a dietician who knows about crohns so they can help with a diet that won't upset the tum but can help you gain weight. We do also have a diet, fitness and sups forum that is worth checking out: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17.

With regards to the Remi will anything change with this beings the tum has become unsettled on it?

HI Gaetano and welcome to the community!

Based upon what you're saying, I strongly suggest you research enteral nutrition. Not only can it help you put the pounds back on, but it's also a proven means to help reduce the inflammation associated with Crohn's disease and help achieve remission as well. It's a fantastic option and I think it would definitely be worth reading about and discussing with your doctor.

I wish you all the best!

How are you doing now? I hope police college is working out for you.
Steroids like Entocort actually work against muscle formation.
You might want to see about visiting an endocrinologist if you are unsure about puberty, but also be aware that there are some guys out there who just aren't that hairy. That doesn't make them any less masculine. (I know, I've dated one). :)

Thank you very much guys!

@David.

I was actually getting a remicade infusion while you wrote that post. I asked my doctor about Moduelin and she fully agreed .Hospital gets it for free so she is going to order me a case!

Thank you very much.

Ciao Gaetano,

I understand your feelings. I am really sad sometimes...
Crohns sucks, but it is not the end of the world. I’ve suffered it for more than 20 years.
We haven't chosen having it; it just happens to us.
