So I decided to go ahead with the ileostomy mainly since my track record with medications is horrible. They are going to give me an epidural to help with the pain since they are removing my rectum on top of it all. Anyone have any stories with an epidural as I have no clue what to expect in the way of pain or how it makes you feel. I am so anxious right now!!! But in a good way, I've read so many threads and stories about people who have had the ileostomy surgery and they say they get their life back which is what I'm looking forward to.

Sorry I can't give any experience with an epidural but I would like to wish all the luck in the world with your upcoming surgery and getting your life back!!!...............

Take care, :)

sorry can't help with Crohnie surgeries, but I had an epidural when I gave birth to my daughter, it was awesome, didn't feel a thing! I was dead from the waist down and didn't even feel them stitching me up after!
It doesn't make you groggy, dozy or drugged up, just paralysed! well recommended!
I was sat up in bed watching telly after epidural waiting for her to come out!
good luck with your surgery and speedy recovery

Thank you guys for the well wishes and for your story Astra! I guess I'm more scared of the needle they use more than anything. The idea of something like that going into my spine kinda wigs me out lol :D

Hey, dont worry when they put that sucker in they do it whilst you are under. UNFORTUNATLEY they never work for me, had 3 during childbirth and nothing, then on after my 2nd resection nothing... seems like meds and needles don't wanna work for me. One good thing is you wont feel anything. Everything sounds scary but when you are in pain all that goes out the window! If you can keep us posted and good luck!!!

I definitely will keep you guys posted, hell, all i'll be doing for the first two weeks is being a computer geek :p.

Well, looks like I'm playing the waiting game some more due to the insurance company sending the wrong paperwork to us to get me reinstated...now it may not be until october/november till i can get the surgery...i feel bad for taking the pain meds my doc prescribed because i feel like a pill head lol. Anyone else feel like this from time to time?

Aw what a shame that you have to wait after getting all psyched up for it!
Oh, don't worry about the meds, I'm a right junkie and proud of it! ha ha
