Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

I have never really liked this analogy. While it does speak true to some of my conditions (eg. autism, which has advantages), I cannot see how GI stuff has good sides to it.

I can relate this on so many levels and I think it so aptly describes what many of us in the Parent's Forum say to a new parent...things will go back to normal, it may be a new normal but it is normal just the same...so the Italy you are having when you aren't having Italy!

I agree, it's not about the IBD itself but learning to deal with the hand you have dealt and what you do with it...seeking out the positives and embracing them. From a parent's perspective this can be very difficult at times as you seem to be surrounded by an endless supply of healthy children and I well imagine this is where the author is coming from. Just as many of you find yourselves surrounded by an endless supply go healthy family and friends.
