Hi,
My 4 y.o (autism, not potty trained) is scheduled for a flex sigmoidoscopy next week. We've been asked to give him magesium citrate for clean-out prior to the procedure. This is his first scope, and we're rather nervous. Any do's or don'ts for the clean-out with a child who's not potty trained?

Thanks for any tips or advice that you can think of!

I would just prepare yourself with plenty of supplies and reassurance for your child. Once the mag starts to work, it is fast and furious. For some children, it works quickly. For my daughter, it took about an hour but once it was working, it was really working.

Let us know how you are doing and welcome!

Welcome Gita! I would think the biggest concern might be causing a diaper rash with all the cleaning required. Keep him well coated with desitin. Is there some way you could clean him with a water spray instead of having to constantly wipe?
