I had my ileostomy taken down in December and am happy to have a scar and a peristomal hernia instead of frequent bag changes, but I'm wondering if I can get some insight on what is "normal" and what may not be. (I had about 40cm of ileum and the ilececal valve removed when I had my ostomy placed).
Currently I'm having at least 8 bowel movements a day, ranging from watery to semi-formed, often with cramping or urgency. I can no longer tolerate dairy (this is completely new) and I very seldom pass gas. I lost about 15lbs right after I had surgery, but my weight has stayed steady since then.
I'm just confused about if this is my new normal or if these could be symptoms of active crohns (I was diagnosed 3/11, ostomy placed 3/12- this is my first "remission"). Anyone have any insight or experience to share?
