6mp (Mercaptapurine)

I was diagnosed with Crohns several years ago and for quiet some time I have been controlled on 6mp and Lyadia. I started a flare about 1 week ago. What have people experienced with 6mp? I am afraid I will have to go back on Prednisone but I had awful side effects on it so im really not looking forward to it. However, I does make me feel better for a short time. Any advise? I am currently impatiently waiting results form an inflammation test.

If Lialda and 6mp aren't enough, you should talk to your GI about it. He can increase your doses, or you can maybe look into a biologic to help keep your illness under control. Otherwise you probably will be put back on steroids. You could ask for entocort instead of prednisone, which has less side-effects, though.

6mp was recently decrease because of "bad levels" being high. I cant increase 6mp. I am waiting for test results then will probably plan to meet with my doctor. I am getting really tired of not feeling like myself. I am just not sure why I am flaring all of a sudden :-/ I think we have talked about entocort before. Maybe that's a good option.
