just a quick question about 6mp. my son takes 1.3ml of his 6mp at night, its a liquid form but i wondered if theres a tablet equivalent in that dosage? Im just thinking about the school trips and would think tablet form would be easier for his teachers to give rather than measuring out liquid.

It depends .... How many mg per ml is mixed to?
There are only 50 mg tablets in the US.
Liquid is not an option.
The smallest we have cut ds's to was 1/4 tablet or 12.5 mg.

thanks for that my little penguin, a tablet form would be so much easier, though Kian has never swallowed a tablet before. im sure he will get used to it. will talk to out Gi next time at our app in Nov. xx

Hi, I have a bottle of 6mp in the cupboard - not touched so far. I asked our IBD nurse if we could have it in tablet form, but she said no. Not sure about the rest of the UK

Sorry trying not to laugh about this.
Our Gi would have loved to be able to get liquid .
Cutting pills does not make minor dose increase possible and DS kept getting too much or too little .

Thats very true, at least i know hes getting the exact dose in liquid form. Yea lee n vikki never ever mentioned tablet form to us sascot, once he was diagnosed it was just salofalk granules then 6mp. xx

I wondered if the pill form would be more stable since the pharmacy here has to make the suspension for my 4yo. The pharmacist was concerned about the potency, so they make up small bottles and refrigerate it. My GI said that it was more important for him to get the medicine in him than to try and fight to deal with a pill. He also mentioned that dosage was an issue when you had to start cutting up pills. My prayer at this point is just that the 6MP works and he doesn't have to go to anything more. :) If you go to the pill form, let us know how it works out for you!

Yea we hav them sent to our local hospital to collect and keep in the fridge. how much does yr little boy take Tangiec and does he take other meds too? Kian tales 1.3ml at bedtime and half a schet of salofalk granules 3x a day. he seems to be doing good, touch wood. how is yr little one doing? xx

dodie74: He takes 25mg per day (5ml in liquid form), along with ranitidine (Zantac), iron, and a probiotic. He was on Pentasa (mesalamine) 250mg/3x day until a month ago and he finally stopped taking his predisolone (Orapred) this past Thursday (that was gradually reduced from 10ml/day to 1ml/day). He is doing well; he's gained all of his weight back and then some and he really seems to be back to his old self for the most part. He is really tired at times. By 2 or 3 in the afternoon he is ready to nap. Yesterday he started limping just out of the blue, so I'm guessing he's got some joint pain going on. Not that I would know...he never complains about pain and has only used his pain meds 3 or 4 times since July. Glad your little one is doing well :) Always good to hear when they are able to be kids!
