Waiting to find out if my 8 year olds bloods are fine now that he is on his therapeutic level of 6mp. His last bloods showed one of the inflammation markers werent at the level they wanted it to be so his consultant wants the 6mp up to the maintenance dose now. Last time they upped it my son was only on the 6mp for a few weeks n he didnt tolerate that level but now he has been on it for 7 months im really hoping his body is used to it now and he can tolerate it, fingers tightly crossed. on a plus note he is now off the iron!! yay!!

Everything crossed here too dodie!

Hi Nataliekim, at the very beginning my son had anal fistula and had surgery on that, at this ppoint we didnt know he had crohns ( few years back i had anal fistula and surgery and i dont have crohns so didnt think really). Anyways, his surgery went good and there was no more problems. Few weeks after Kian had bloated tummy, ALOT of smelly gas and tummy pains so i took him back to dics as i wanted it investigated as the bloating was so bad he looks pregs!!! he had barium meal and xrays to begin with to rule out obstruction as they put a camera capsulr inside him while they were doing a colonoscopy and endoscopy. In end the biopsys came back with crohns, 4 different spots( one being down at his anus) hence the fistula. since he has been on his meds he has been really good, bloating has gone completely and no pain, his poo has always been normal tho, never any diarhoea or blood, hope it stays that way. he on 6mp and salofalk now and firstly was weekly bloods, then fortnightly and now dowm to monthly, as you can see with my first message im waiting on his blood results now as he up to his maintenance dose so fingers tightly X. How is your little one, is it crohns too?

Well, the dr. Did a blood test for crohns, which to my surprise came back the same day, negative. He also is testing her for celiac. I'm still not 100 % on the crohns test, though. As she has sores on her butt and her rectal area is very red/sore, too. I would be very happy to hear it to be celiac, no question.
She has lots of constipation issues, tummy pains. And has been hospitalized one time already for said issues. At the time she was in, if you can believe I had completely forgotten about my first CT scan 16 yrs ago that showed crohns/uc(people at the time told me that you couldn't dx crohns/uc w a CT... So I just forgot about it.... Rt up until three weeks ago when I was in hospitalgetting another CT w the same Dx) So, when the dr asked if she has a family history... I flaked. I'm really mad at myself now. We could have had her tested then, it would have been so easy. Now, it's an uphill battle with a very unhappy little girl. Now I am trying to find the easiest was as possible to go about this.... For her sake.

awww bless her, i really hope you get it sorted really soon, its awful when they have tummy pains etc and not a thing we can do. My husband also has crohns, his is also mild and been that way for years too. So, has yr daughter not had any other tests rather than the bloods? We would never have know about Kians Crohns if i hadnt taken him back to the docs with the bloating etc, we know our own children and whats "normal" for them and whats not. Keep in touch and wishing you all the best with yr daughter. xxxx
