Ok,I am all new to this so bare with me ya'all! I was just diagnosed with Crohn's about 3 months ago.I have been on prednisone, asacol, and flagle for the last three months. They took me off the pred. about a month ago, and now all my symptoms are coming back...plus, I have a fistula that is not closing.OMG it's seriously not good!So I went to the dr. Mon. and he wants to start me on Remicade.I have read some about it and the side effects, and I am a little scared. So I need to hear from some ppl on the medicine, and how they are doing on it.At this point, I am desperate, But i still want to be cautious of what i put into my body!I dont want to make things worse than what they are.Any advise??????HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

Hi ang gen,

Welcome to the forum. There is lots of info on here about remicade, but this thread is the granddaddy of them all:

I understand your anxiety about it. I was nervous too, but I had absolutely no problems. You will find that most people on here have found it to be a great help and the good far outweighs the bad. I also had a fistula. Remi did not end up closing it, so I had surgery, but many others have had success with Remicade and fistulas. I know fistulas are no fun at all and can be very embarrassing, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Good luck.

Hi ang_gen,
First and foremost, welcome. I have had both fistulas and abscesses with my Crohn's, and really haven't had too many problems with them since being put on Remicade. For me, the pros definitely outweighed the cons in the case of Remicade. I hope you have success in whichever treatment you choose to persue.

Good health and best of luck.

Welcome!

I had a fistula and Remicade closed it up super fast. Was on Remicade for several years before it just stopped working.

Hi ang gen
and welcome

I've never had a fistula so can't help you there, but I'm on Pred and hoping to start Remi Apr/May and I am looking forward to it, just don't want to pop pills all day anymore. Heard and read so much about Remi, and you'll see on the forum, that there are lots of success stories. Try not to focus on the side effects, the benefits will far outweigh any of them, I've stopped looking and reading about side effects now, because we are all totally different, at different stages, ages, etc,
Don't be scared, I was when I started the Pred, in fact, I was hysterical! but it did the trick and any side effects were immaterial
whatever you decide, good luck
Joan xxx
