Hello everyone,

I posted not long ago in the support forum about how I was feeling very low and got an amazing response from people and it has boosted my confidence to speak to people more openly about what I'm going through.. So thank you very much.

Now onto one of the things I have kept quiet for a while and didn't help with my mood. I have very bad skin tags and have had them for as long as I have had crohn's. Recently I have been having problems with what I think might be a leak having to wear pads to make myself more comfortable. I have also been having blood on pads and occasionally what looks like a lot of blood in bm. Along with this I think I have some mucus which I have never had before. I have a lot of pain before which is a stabbing pain in the bottom (sorry not pleasant) and have a lot of pain during bm and after sometimes for a long time. I have tried sitting in baths, using sudocream to help and not using anything with fragrance in it, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

I'm having a humira shot once every 2 weeks and it seems to control the pain, eating almost normaly (or as normal as it gets for me lol) and im not going to the bathroom as often. But all of this makes me wonder if I've still got some sort of inflammation or something else going on. I've got a GI appointment on friday but until then just wonder if anyone else has any ideas?
Sorry this message is long I just hope it makes sense I have trouble writing everything down that's going on and sharing these kinds of things is still very new to me.

Thanks x

I have a lot those same problems. I have skin tags that do sometimes become inflammed and very painful. I have a fistula which leaks sometimes, and always have mucous and sometimes blood in BM's.
I have actually had those problems for years and the pain has gotten a lot better.
Unfortunately inflammation around the rectum is common. Ask your GI about corticosteroid suppositories and cream.
In the meantime, hemmeroid ointment containing cortisone may help. And sitz baths are AMAZING for instant relief. They are handier than stripping down and sitting in the bath tub, and because of the sitting position the water seems to be able to circulate around the anus more. Not to mention the water spray (meant to maintain the water temp.) when directed at your anus really helps clean any fecal material from around the area, which also helps with the pain. I have found that skin tags make it hard to keep the area properly clean which makes the pain and inflammation worse.
If the rectal inflammation can be controlled for a while, they can fix skin tags and fistulas with surgery.

How long have you been on Humira? If it's been a while maybe ask your consultant/registrar if you can up the Humira to weekly as it should be halting the inflammation in it's tracks.
