A day in the ER

I had been more or less feeling ok. In fact, I'm trying to go back to work. However, there seems to be some sort of grand plan for me to think I'm getting better and then pull the rug out from under my feet.

I have a sinus infection. That alone should be enough. But I also have some sort of stomach bug. I couldn't keep even a few sips of water down. In addition to the regular diarrhea, that led to severe dehydration. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday at my primary care clinic. The doctor sent me to the ER practically immediately. They started IV fluids, and the ER doc did a chest x-ray because he thought he heard fluid in my lungs. Fortunately, they were clear. He also ordered a CT scan of my abdomen. Of course, even though the colonoscopy a few months ago showed they were calm, now there are signs of a lot of inflammation at the anastamosis site and throughout the large intestine. Ugh! And today, while I was able to tolerate a small glass of watered down apple juice, it led to 3 watery BMs.

I don't know if I can take another spin on this merry go round!

At least the ER staff seems to have a clue. Apple juice gets me anytime, remission or no. :p Sorry to hear about all the inflammation. They may try prednisone instead of Entocort but I still hope it all magically goes away on its own. ;)

I got a sinus infection and ear infection too (well its gone now). But I started getting sick in FL and was sick that day at Epcot. Were you sick there too?

Fortunately, I didn't get sick until the day we got home. After Disney, we did a dolphin swim at Discovery Cove and 2 days at sea world, as my son loves dolphins. If you ever get the chance to go to discovery cove, I highly recommend it.

I'll remember that and will look it up too as I know nothing about Discover Cove. I loved Sea World but I've only been to the one in Ca. You still in the hospital or did they let you out on good behavior?

I'm home, thankfully! I didn't expect to end up in the ER when I went to the doc for a virus, and I probably would have broken down in tears if they wanted to admit me. They did have me scared for a bit when the nurse kept listening to my bowels. She said they were very hypoactive, and then when the ER doctor came in and listened and said he was ordering a CT, I did nearly freak out. I see my GI doctor next week, and I was really hoping to get released to return to work.
