Hi Everyone

10 years ago i was diagnosed with Crohn's.I'd had 'issues' for roughly 3 years leading into this.Since then i've had 2 resections.I've taken Steroids,Pentasa,6mp,Methotrexate.I've been reading this forum for a few months now as i've decided to maybe try any natural/herbal/diet remedies which others may have tried. The hospital want me to go on infliximab but after all the problems i've had with all the other drugs i'm very hesitant at this stage to go ahead with it.The consultant i'm under i've always found a bit arrogant and he is very much 'i'm right' - His attitude when i said i was going to try something else first was very dismissive but i didn't really expect much else to be honest.Given that nothing he has ever given me has helped for very long without serious side affects i think it's worth looking at.

Hi bonzo and :welcome: to the forum.

If you are wanting to try diet and herbal remedies, you definitely will need the support of a good doctor. I suggest finding a new consultant who will walk down that path with you. It sounds as if you don't have a great relationship with your current one anyway.

Diet plays a big part in how we feel with IBD, regardless of what some doctors say. We have a great diet sub-forum here where you can chat about diet with others. Please visit it as I think you'll find a lot of moral support on your journey.

Welcome once again. I wish you the best of luck. And keep us posted. :)

ya, u are right, bcos i have the same problem too, my doc does not answer my question too, what ever i ask he just give me a answer ok ok, i really donno what should i do next ,

Hi bonzo and welcome to the forum :bigwave: (Irene too :)) I agree that if you are having problems with your doc and they are not being supportive then you need to look at going to someone else, it is very important that you feel comfortable with your doc and that you know they have your best interests at heart. It certainly cannot hurt to try the diet route, I think it is worth searching out posts by Mickey and happy as they have some really great advice in this area. I hope it goes well and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your replies and advice.

The consultant i'm currently under is the 4th consultant i've been under since my problems began. The first 2 failed to correctly diagnose me which led to the first resection
so i looked for better help. The 3rd one never took my complaints/symptoms serious enough which led to the 2nd resection.
I decided after that to try to find better advice. My GP told me the specialist hospital in the UK was St Marks so he sent me their. He has put me on different steroids which i'd not used before & then Methotrexate.I tried tablets & injections but with both i just keep being sick.I was told this was the best hospital for me but they have not been any different to the local hospital i was under.

I'm going to try some of the different natural remedies i've seen people discuss on here.

Hi Bonzo (and Irene)

Welcome to the forum

I'd definately get a new Crohns doc - the one you've got sounds totally useless. You are well within your rights to request someone different who will listen to what you have to say and work out what's best for you.

Keep us posted on the doc situation and your diet idea
