So, Since i'm new, probably a lot of you don't know that i've been in and out of the ER many times within this past month. All but two, resulting in being admited into the hospital, for atleast a week's stay.
The first time, I begged them to just let me go home, because I didn't want to be there, and they allowed me to go.
Second time, was 2 days ago. Where I was running a 101.9 fever, my stomach, back, and lower chest felt like a balloon that was on the verge of popping. I finally talk my mom into coming and picking me up, and drive me to this really far away ER that my doctor suggested that I go to the next time I had to go. (So far away, that not even the ambulance people would take me there.).. I had lots of other issues going on, such as not having a BM for the day prior, and that day... And before those days I went from a good BM to pure liquid and blood. I was in pain, and nausea. (This is WITH the max of my pain meds and anti nausea meds. (Since i've had this i've barely even taken a days worth of what i'm prescribed as needed in a weeks sitting), and it was still not tolerable, and there were moments I was sure If i didn't have the anti nausea meds in me, that I would of been splewing everywhere).
Anyways, I sit in the waiting room for .... ohhhh about 6 hours.. I finally get seen, they draw one vial of my blood, and send me off to pee in a cup. Then send me back into the waiting room. Where I wait for another 2 hours. And they call me back into a room and tell me "it's just a flare up. You're fine. go home. YOu're not pregnant, and your lab results came back perfect! They are the best i've seen today!" ... so here i am sitting in pain, and I KNOW for a fact that, that ONE small dinky vial of blood could NOT of tested my full cbc and my potassium levels (Which are constantly dropping. I'm on supplements for both iron and potassium. I've had potassium IV for 8days straight, and magnesium 2 days after that. and pints of blood hooked up into me. gah, did i mention how much i hate needles?) (now do correct me if i'm wrong. But in the past they had to take atleast 4 or 6 vials of blood from me to check all my levels and such. can one of the small vials give all that info to them? I'm guessing all they did was test for the usual pregnancy test and then test me to make sure my thyroid and liver were still alive and kicking.)
Anyways, needless to say.. I came out of this broke, in more pain than before (due to their "you can't take your meds" rule (i take meds every 4, 6, and 12 hrs.)), and with a lot of wasted time. (I spent over 18hrs there, just to be told i was fine and to go home and it was just a flare up). I asked them to atleast do a CT scan, because that was usually the first thing the other ER did before anything else. And they always found my colon to be inflamed.
And now here I sit.. / well lay.. but lol you get the point. lol.. I almost called 911 last night due to me getting creeped out by the pain up between my skin and my ribs and when i touched it, I found a lump of some sort of mass, that moved with my push of my hand, and hurt almost like a bruised pimple (if that makes sense). I currently feel pressure on my back and sides and spine. I'm not hungry.. if anything it's all trying to come back up. BUT i'm not in severe pain anymore, and my temp is staying around 98.2 ... so i think i'm good.. I guess my "it's time to go get help" flag raises when pain becomes unbareable, and i have a high temp.
My experience at this er was just horrible, and I will NEVER EVER go back there.. (for when i was being discharged at their discharge booth, the nurse came by and stuck and actual needle in me and left it to pump sodium-chloride in me and i was like "your taking the needle out right? just gonna be the catheder right?" she nodded but left it there anyways.. Well.. I found out she didn't. And when she undid all of the bandaging she did to cover it, my WHOLE lower part of my upper arm was deep dark purple, with bruiseing around the purple (and i was like "maybe it went under the skin, and not in the vein?" and the nurse was like "oh your good sweetie! You free to go now! We thought since your heart rate was 159 we should give you some liquids before you left. But your good now! *smiles and leaves*" - that took place all within 30 mins. that was the fastest bag of fluids i had had put in my veins. ) I see my primary doc on monday, so I'm going to talk to her about this as well (shes the one that reffered me to this specific ER, since it was "much better" than the ER I was going to... :ybatty:
And i'm hoping I can hold off until monday.
