A lot of itching

Hi everyone, new to this forum but I would like to know if any of you have experienced itching... I've been taking Azathioprine since last September and started Adalimumab (Amgevita) in March this year.

I first started itching in June this year (3 months after starting Amgevita, maybe a coincidence?) and I get it primarily in the legs and arms, sometimes around the waist and upper thighs, it is very irritating and comes on after a shower lasting for about 20 minutes. I do get it throughout the day but nowhere as bad as after showering/bathing.

I had blood tests and liver/kidney tests a few weeks after it started and they came back fine.

I've speculated that it comes on after sun exposure but that wouldn't explain why I get it around my waist since its covered, maybe it causes general itching?

Would love to know if I'm not the only one experiencing this :)

Aza makes you very sensitive to the sun
Showers are drying
Have you seen a dermatologist?
Might simply be dry skin
Or eczema (itch that rashes ) especially since it’s worse after a shower
None allergic lotions sometimes helps after a shower
Such as cerave or vanicream

look up wet wraps
They use this on kids

see a dermatologist

I’m going to phone my GP again soon, last time they prescribed me anti itch cream and I’ve been moisturising after every shower but it doesn’t seem to help much.

Also forgot to mention that it doesnt come with any rashes.

I had something like this, i think it was some pathogenic microbe that i was exposed to, it eventually went away but lasted for months. Our immune system is weaker so things like this just happen. I would suggest vitamin d supplements 1000-2000 iu per day, food with vitamin a in it like carrots, and good fiber like whole grain wheat oats broccoli and just the usual good diet, avoid excess sugar and fat and maybe some fermented foods like cheese( parmesan, mozzerella, aged cheddar, cream cheese many only with locust bean gum and no xanthan gum), but not too much cheese its high in saturated fat. between vitamin a and d and fiber, that should boost your immune system a little bit. also clean and clip your toenails, disinfect your shoes clean your carpets and house. Otherwise ask a doctor its occasionally linked to primary bilary cholangitis.

I’m hoping it’s something that can be cured by diet and strengthening my immune system, will definitely keep an eye on what I’m eating now. I should be having an appointment with a specialist some time soon (waiting for a call back next week). So maybe they have any other ideas. Personally I think it’s a reaction to the adalimumab, I don’t want to get off it since it’s working for me, but I can’t live with this itching forever especially when it’s unbearable after showers :(

If you take any supplements with Niacin, this could also be Niacin flushing, or that's what they call it anyways, skin gets red and sometimes itchy. but these are just my experiences with similar symptoms. It takes a lot of Niacin to do this though, and mainly if you take it on an empty Stomach, I was taking 100 mg.
