abcess

anyone that has ever had an abcess, how did you know. when i was diagnosed the biopsy said i had an abcess but the doctor said not to worry because the one they found was at a microscopic level. now my bottom hurts but inside and feels sore and like there is something in there.

Sorry to hear you are in pain, Donna! :( Have you never felt that kind of pain before? Maybe someone in this forum knows what it could be?

I also just found out that I have abscesses (read my journal), but my doctor never told me this. I have to ask him next time I see him what the consequences are, and if they are small or big.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Hi Donna: I had a very large abscess to the right of my belly button, the pain was so bad that I was admitted to the hospital and put on Morphine. I had a drain put in which I had for about 3 months and then they removed the abcess, my appendics and 8" from my Ileum( I was pregnant and they wanted to wait until I was 6 months along) The pain was so unbearable I could not even walk. The worst pain I have ever had. I was told the abscess formed due to a leak in the Ileaum so I guess that is why the abscess grew so fast and was so painful. It soulds like your abcess is very tiny and I hope for you that it goes away on its own.

My story is much like Donna's. I had an abscess in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen. That was actually how I ended up getting diagnosed with Crohn's. I had abdominal pain starting last summer that got progressively unbearable by December. I couldn't eat anything without hurting and sleep was impossible. By the time I made it to the ER I could barely walk upright and every little bump in the car on the way there was killer. Mine was the size of a baseball.

I would imagine having abscesses in the rectal area would be even more uncomfortable if they were really bad since you put pressure on that area any time you sit down.

I would mention any new pains to your doctor. Better safe than sorry. If an abscess bursts that can cause sepsis, which is not a good thing at all. Did your doctor say if you were going to be treated at all for the abscess so it doesn't progress into anything worse?

Get it checked out by a colon-rectal doc asap.

My abscess started out with hemeroid symtoms but got worse over time, until it bloomed in to a fistula. You don't want that to happen.
