Abcess

Hi everyone, I had abscess surgery 6 months back. (Not exactly surgery, but he drained the abscess in 5 min and covered it with cotton). I am fine till now, but the problem is, drained part is not closed till now and I saw some blood drops yesterday after my stool from that area(abscess drained area). I am worried about that. Please suggest me any creams I can use, which can heal that part. Please help me regarding this. Thank you very much

You may have developed a fistula – an open channel to your rectum - that is what happened to me after my abscess was drained. Please see GI doc and get tested for Crohn's. There are meds you can take to close fistulas, do NOT go surgery way, I had fistula surgery and it left me with deformity in my anal area. Best of luck!

Hi Chand

I would call your GI straight away and get it checked out. As exit4 mentioned, you may have developed a fistula...for abscesses and fistulas, my GI has put me on antibiotics which seem to help. This may work for you, or your GI may offer other ideas.

In the meantime, try hot compressing (a face towel dipped in very warm water) the area for some relief. I tend to hot compress for about 10 minutes several times a day. If you have a sitz bath, or just a hot bath, it will offer some temporary relief.

Thanks for the replies exit4 and glum chump. will call GI and get it checked. Does abscess drained part really closes for every one ?
