about Josh

Great to be here - thanks - my son is named Josh, he's 7 years old and has been diagnosed with "unspecified Colitis" - he's been prescribed Pentasa, which has seemed to help his inflammation. He is currently on a feeding tube and hospitalized for both Cdiff and Influenza-B.

Josh has been hospitalized 9 times since he was 4 - and four times in the last year.

He seems to be recovering from the infections now. We're trying to find out what he will eat - so we can get him off the feeding tube now.

He is very picky with what he will eat, even when well, and has a poor appetite.

His immune system is weak and we go once a month for IVIG treatments, which have helped some, but as we are here since Dec 31 with these infections, we know IVIG is not the end all solution.

Josh's conditions are complex and unique as I'm sure are everyone who battles this disease.

I'm looking for whatever information I can find that will help this brave little boy who is the light of my life.

I'm sorry to hear that Josh and your family are going through such tough times. All my best to him and everyone affected by this disease. It does indeed sound like he's brave and tough and will be kicking those infections butt in no time at all :)

Out of curiosity, as he's such a picky eater when well, have the doctors ordered any food sensitivity/allergy tests for him?

Hi David and :welcome:

I'm sorry you had to find our way here. There are quite a few parents hanging out and the site is a great place for support and info with many experienced and knowledgeable peeps. There is a parents forum but of course you are more than welcome to post in whatever you like...............................

Are the docs any closer to coming up with a definitive diagnosis?

Perhaps you could tell us a little more about his symptoms, someone may have suggestions for you if they have dealt with similar themselves.

I hope Josh is able to get well and truly onto the road to recovery. I wish you, Josh and your family all the luck in the world.............welcome aboard.

Thinking of you and a big hug for Josh,

Hi JoshsDad,

Best of luck getting Josh back to health!

Gad, I can sympathize -- I got Crohn's at 9, back in the old days. Things are much better now!

I know you will give him all the support you can -- please reassure him it's not his fault!

Sandy
