Abscess Healing?

Last Sunday, I went to the ER for abscess and had it drained. The abscess was right below a fistula scar that formed 4 years ago. This is the 2nd time I've had abscess but the first time, I didn't require surgery so I am not quite sure what to except.

I had the drainage last sunday and was kept in the hospital for 2 days. No fistulas were found. I was told to have it packed and dressed daily. 6 days later, I've little drainage (blood or some pus i believe).

I've increased my vitamin c and e intake as well as anti-inflammatory food for faster recovery. Wondering how long it my take to heal? The wound is approx 1.5cm-2cm deep. Any tips to manage the wound? Is packing necessary as it hurts to get it done. Thanks

Hi Kancer,
I am speaking from experience. you need to keep that area clean no matter what. Sitz baths are a really good idea. If you aren't sure what they are ask the local pharmacy. Most of all get back to a doctor and ask questions. That is what they are there for. I encourage you to pm me if you need help. I like helping people. i have had 14 rear end surgeries myself so i have been around the block.

The wound is healing nicely with some discharge (blood and yellow liquid).

Sadly, I have another abscess in another bum that needs I&D on Monday. Life keeps kicking me down
