Today I had an accident first time in a long time at work and nearly a couple more. What's worse is that it happened in front of a manager/assistant director of mine. Can't remember if this manager knows about my IBD or not, but if not he'll need to know soon. Partly because I'm afraid he thought he'd said something wrong because I was embarrassed at the time and locked up where I couldn't tell him (we work very closely with each other so it is important so he can help me).

It was a very busy day because of Mother's day weekend which didn't help. I've been in flare watch for a few days, up to a week or so already. Luckily I had a kit in my locker so I could clean myself up. But, the stress from the accident still bothers me.

Not the most comforting feeling, that's for sure. I think all the trauma of that is why my stomach started hurting and gave me pain afterwards. Used the Canasa suppositories last night at bed time. Trying to get this thing under control before it's totally out of control.

A little better this morning so far. We'll see what happens...

I'm sorry you had a bad day. Maybe you should have a talk with him, so he knows. It's embarassing, I've had it happen a few times. Currently I take a small go bag with me in case of accidents so I don't have to stress too much.

Sorry to hear about your flare / accident. 🙁
I've had bad accidents but way in the past.
But I always carry Poise Pads, Cottonelle Wipes and Preparation H Cream in my purse.
I hope you fell better soon.

Thanks guys! :) Yeah, I'll talk with him when we get the chance. Today I started too late, so even if he was there today he was gone before I got there. But, it'll happen.

I keep a little kit in my locker at all times just in case. Spare pair of pants, underwear, a plastic bag for the dirty clothes, wipes and a pad or two. Just added a pair of socks to the kit now. The wipes were dried out because I hadn't needed the kit in so long (and replaced now), but keep some in an apron I carry with me all the time...

It happened to me last week, but luckily I was at home. It's not a good experience no matter where we are.I'd been back and forwards to the bathroom at least eight times and thought I was empty, but surprise surprise...It's a good idea to remind your work
people of your problems.Hopefully it won't happen again at work or anywhere public for that matter.

Oh, I hate that!!! No accidents last night at work, just a near miss and don't appreciate those, but can take those over the accidents!

I'm in charge tonight and tomorrow, so more stress for me. I'm hoping it'll behave itself while I'm in charge. Yes, I've told a few more since Saturday evening since there are new ones since the last flare. Thankfully everyone has been understanding so far and even a bit protective. I usually let all my managers and people in charge know. But, now that I'm in charge too sometimes things are changed a little.

I am glad that your bosses and co-workers are so understanding.
I did not have this when I was working.
I used to call my condition a "gastric anomaly" as a joke.
But nonetheless I think the people at my workplace were just making fun of me and my colon urgencies, they knew where I was if I wasn't at my desk. And I am sure my bosses realized how many times and how long I was gone.

I had a desk job but that doesn't mean it was easier for me than others. Still embarrassing.

Have a great week.

Oh man! I am so sorry you all have to go through this. AS if it isn't enough to have to deal with the illness then you have to deal with this.

My daughter has been having accidents for 2 1/2 years now. She is applying for her first job and keeps crossing prospects off the list because you can't easily drop and run. Makes me so sad. Plus the GI says her status is a B+...yeah well we want her at an A!

Flying is her worst fear. Recently it almost happened on a plane. Fasten your seat belts for landing. Long taxi to the gate and waiting for everyone to get off he plane. Oh and the other day stuck in traffic she just bolted from the car and ran along a street looking for a business with a public restroom. Ended up on a University campus in a student union. It was interesting trying to navigate her back to us.

Oh that's really sad to hear.Especially as she's young and has her whole life ahead of her.It is so stressful and life limiting.Lucky for me my working days are over and I can schedule and re-schedule things, and stay home if I need to.I really hope things improve for her and she finds a job that allows her to feel "safe".

When you are suspecting a flare occurring try to avoid food that irritates your intestines.
Stay to bread, toast, chicken, turkey...
You could also ask your doctor if it's okay to take a couple of immodium before going to work.
Then if your are still feeling insecure of having an accident, maybe you could try using incontinence pants.
Remember if you're flaring today, it does mean that you're soon going to be in remission. It's just the Crohn's cycle.
Just modify some things to make it easier for yourself and stay positive 😀
Best regards

Been back on the Canasa suppositories for almost a week now. The Canasa seemed to work immediately, still get some blood but only had an accident that once. So, I'm thinking I maybe on the mend. It'll take some time to heal, but that's to be expected.

Was pretty busy and stressful yesterday at work, but thankfully my stomach behaved itself. Have been doing some cross-stitch again since getting sick and that's been helping my stress level too. So, all in all I'm alright. :)

Honestly, I think I'm harder on myself than others are. #1 because I don't want to be sick and #2 because I expect to be able to do the same as I always do all the time as well as the same amount of work. I suppose I need to relax and go with the flow, but it'll take a little learning to do on my end...:ybatty:

Cross stitch: For me it's all about balance and being aware of my symptoms.
Learning when to take it easy and learning when I can push myself a little bit harder.
Today was Sunday and my plan was to stay home and rest and be quiet, so I did. Luckily all my neighbors were quiet and I was "chill" until 4:13pm, when a bunch of screaming little boys were playing right outside my apartment !
Rest and especially sleep is so precious to me.
Sending you my support.

Before I got diagnosed I had countless accidents, luckily most of them were at home. I had such severe urgency that it would wake me up in the middle of the night up to three times and I would just not make it to the bathroom in time.
I had a near miss at work too which would have been very embarrassing.
I used to wear sanitary towels for protection and still carry around an emergency bag of spare underwear, sanitary pads, a carrier bag and wipes. It makes me feel more secure.
For me the risk of accidents due to urgency and the diarrhoea is the worst part about IBD.
