Hey I'm suffering with really bad acid reflux that's makes me get sick and especially after I try to eat I bring it up (sorry its a bit gross) :stinks:
I'm currently taking omneprezole 40mg and I'm always looking for my bottle if gaviscon
Does any body have the same problem with the acid reflux
:quack:

Acid reflux is fairly common with IBD sufferers. I've had luck with Aciphex and Tums - especially before bed.

Aciphex is great, I used to take it when I had esophagitis, but you have to have your doctor prescribe it. I now take 150mg Zantac OTC twice a day when I need it. This dosage is what my GI said for me to take.

I get reflux, 'though I think mine might be due to motility problems rather than IBD - my endoscopy showed inflammation in the stomach and eosophagus which I was told was due to reflux - reflux of bile into the stomach, and reflux of stomach acid into the eosophagus.

I tried a few different Proton-Pump Inhibitors, which are the standard treatment, but they didn't really do anything for my symptoms. I also tried domperidone, which is a med that makes your stomach empty quickly (mine empties too slowly), which helped but only for a while, then it seemed to lose its effectiveness.

I think there are various foods that are meant to make it worse, like fizzy drinks and spicy food. I never eat spicy food, but I do drink fizzy drinks as I get reflux anyway so it doesn't make much odds to me. It also helps to sit still after eating, but not lie down (don't eat right before going to bed as it means gravity doesn't have as much of a chance to make the acid go the right way).

Many people get acid reflux from eating wheat and wheat products. Rather than trying more medications, how about trying to clear your diet of wheat for a few weeks and seeing whether it has the desired effect. If not, then try more medications.

You would need to read labels very carefully as many unexpected products contain wheat. Rye bread, for example often has wheat in it, but you can buy pure rye. Or change to rice cakes for a while. Things like soy sauce also contain wheat.

Susan 2 I can't eat wheat gluten or dairy so I no its not that , I've had different anti sickness but I just throw them up
Um struggling to eat food and keep it down so I'm a bit stuck

Hi! Just thought I'd post and saying I'm experiencing acid reflux too, and have undiagnosed bowel problems too. I can't really help as such yet but I'll keep a look out for advice and get back to you!
