Hi there Usit21 I moved your post to your own thread! This was my first attempt

:welcome: aboard, surgery is scary for all of us but some have had a decent life after and so happy they did. Have you been on all the biologics too? Where is your Crohn's located and what type of surgery are you looking at to face? A few here from Ireland hope you join us and keep us updated!

I've had crohns for about 10 years and have had numerous surgery. The first was 10 years ago when i was first diagnosed, I had a part of the bowel removed (the section that joins the small to large intestine). Luckily the crohns went into remission for about 6 years which was fab :thumleft: Sadly it didn't last and following various drug treatment I had another resection in Jan 2009 and a temporary stoma was fitted :frown: About 6 months later I went in for a reversal of the stoma but the join leaked and I ended up with septecemia and drains, stomas and blood transfusions all over the place! I recovered but kept the stoma for another 8 months before having a successful reversal back in March :lol2: Anyway I thought the surgery would be the answer but just had colonoscopy which confirmed bloody crohns is back and i'm starting 6mp in Jan. I suppose I'm trying to say that it is worth trying all sorts of meds first as surgery isn't always the best choice.

Good luck with whatever you choose x :sun:

Hi and welcome!

I am sorry to hear you may be facing surgery. However, several forum members have had surgery and are doing better than ever. I hope if you do need surgery, you'll see a huge improvement.

I suggest checking out the Surgery subforum to talk with others who have undergone an operation.
