Hi all:
Here's my timeline.
August 2014: Appendix ruptured and didn't know for 8 days. Badly infected with multiple abscesses. Admitted to hospital for 6 days on IV antibiotics. CT scans showed inflammation concerning for crohn's (terminal ileum and cecum). Sent home on oral antibiotics to allow inflammation to subside. Normal stools prior to appendicitis. WBC normal.
October 2014: Appendix removed laparoscopically. Knowing the suggestions for IBD in CT scans, colon & rectal surgeon inspected small and large bowels during surgery. If IBD, he would resection. Said everything looks "completely normal" and to forget about any possibility of crohn's. Said inflammation in small bowel and cecum was reactive to abscessed appendicitis, and is common in such cases. Removed only appendix. Stools normal. WBC and other bloodwork normal.
November 2014: Developed dull, minor ache in the upper right quadrant, just under ribs. Comes and goes, and sometimes radiates to back. Not sure if I should give it some time to clear on its own, or whether I should see my GI or even just a GP, as perhaps the problem here is something else like gallstones? No fever, normal stools, no sharp cramping, no fatigue, tolerate all foods.
