Hey, can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a stomach bug and a flare up. Every couple of weeks I pass blood since beginning September and then 2 weeks ago a few times a week I've woken up with the urge to get sick but on trying nothing. Then this morning same thing but have had diarrhoea all day with severe pain down the left side. A small bit of vomiting, but now starting to pass blood and mucus with the last bit of diarrhoea. The main question is, is it a bug or as its been building up is it a flare p or both? I don't normally get sick with my crohns.

Sounds like crohns to me a tummy bug normally only lasts a short e.g 48hrs from hell with norovirus.i would speak to your go or clinic nurse.good luck

That's what I'm thinking. Just my family have been hit by a bug recently but been going on too long. Just waiting for a call back from the doc.

It was probably a stomach bug that triggered the Crohn's that was lying in wait. :/

that is what happened to me. I got a horrible stomach bug (which had been going around) but then it just never went away. I had constant diarrhea for months and losing weight (from not eating) when finally a friend convinced me that i was too young to be so tired (lethargic) and that i should get checked out.

Thinking of it I had diarrhea for 40 days last yr going up to 15 times a day.
