I have been on Pentasa or Asacol for nearly 30 years with great success. The cost of those Rx has gotten so I can no longer take either. I have been off them for 3 months now and I am feeling horrible and my regular symptoms are returning. But I cannot afford the meds. Any known alternatives? I have been told there are no generics.

If I remember correctly, Asacol is still patented until July of this year so there will be no generics of that particular medication until after that date.

I will definitely be switching once a generic becomes available to cut costs if at all possible.

I buy from Canada
Saves 70%
I use Big Mountain Drugs
There is a generic everywhere but in the US
Been buying the generic version now for 6 months
can't tell the difference

I had a deductible to pay $180 for Asacol the first month but now pay $30 a month at Walmart. I don't know if it's because of my insurance or it's from Walmart that it's this price... I was shocked to see someone else on this forum paying $450 for Asacol HD!!! Wow....... that's outrageous!
