Hi everyone, I'm a 24 year old female and this is the story to my diagnosis of Crohn's disease. In 2006, I tried to give blood but was told I was anemic. My doc sent me for further testing and I even saw a hemotologist. My ferritin was low and he put me on iron pills. I then had abdominal pains and rectal bleeding so with the anemia, pain and bleeding, my doc recommended a gastro especially since I have a brother with Crohn's. The doctor said I was asymptomatic and sent me home. Meanwhile, my regular doc kept an eye on my ESR and CRP which were always elevated. This year in March at the age of 24, I decided to put an end to the nagging feeling that I have something going on and it needs to be treated and went to a different gastro who sent me for CT scan. He called and said it looks like Crohn's and find someone who specializes in that so I did. My new gastro did a colonoscopy, found inflammation in small intestine and large intestine, started me on Pentasa and now put me on Aza 50mg.
Hope I didn't bore you too much :)

Welcome to the forum Seebee!

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself.. I assure you it was not boring :).

How are you feeling on the medication you are currently on? Are you still in pain?

There is a great group of people here so I hope that you will continue to look around the forum and let us know if you have any questions or are in need of any support.

Welcome! Im a 24 year old female too and recently diagnosed! I thought I was symptomatic for 1 year before I got diagnosed but looking back it was prob a lot longer than that. I have Crohn's in my small intestine and currently treatment seems to be keeping me all ok. Like you I am on Pentasa. Anyway hope you find what you're looking for in the forum :) the people are lovely and its so good to have your questions answered by people who understand what you are going through.

Hi seebee and welcome :) It's great to have you here :)

You want to get to the point where you don't have any pain. If you still have pain, there's a chance you have some inflammation which, in time, could lead to other issues. Is your doctor aware that you're still experiencing pain? How is your CRP and ESR?

Again, welcome to the community!

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad you have decided to join :) It's great that things have started to improve for you, is the descreasing pain the only improvement you have noticed or have your other symptoms also gotten better? How long have you been on the Aza?

David - my ESR is borderline now and my CRP is also going down :ysmile:.
Angrybird - I've been on the Aza for 5 weeks now and I noticed an overall improvement.
Once again thanks for the welcome everyone.
