York,
I am 28 and a pretty health person..

So this past Wednesday I had a lap done for gyn issues of cramping and stomach pain. Surgery went well. Came home felt fine Wednesday night , felt fine Thursday morning and around 9 am I out of the blue, snap of finger I was throwing up, had direhha with tons of blood (sometimes more blood then stool), lightheadness, bloated, fatigued. Went to er and they determined I don't have hemmoroids (there first response) nor a tear. They think it's coming from my colon or intense but not sure. They deny it has anything to do with my surgery. Because its a holiday weekend they send me home with perocets for pain and ondansetron for nausea. The meds barely work. I now have back pain and white ulcers in my mouth. Have barely any appetite and when I do eat causes stomach pain and more BM. The er is having a surgeon call me Tuesday to set up a colonoscopy for possible colitis or chrons.

I sit at home sick as a dog just so doctors can have a vacation day.:stinks:

Symptoms:
nausea/vomiting
Direhha
Bloody BM
fatigued
Random fevers
Bloating
Night sweats
Back pain
Lower stomach pain
Mouth ulcers (only happens with all symptoms)
Loss of appetite

Hello
It is very concerning to hear your story.Quite shocking in fact. What kind of hospital is doing this to you.?
Hopefully you had some blood work done at the time in ER.
I think you should go back and let them know how badly you are feeling, bleeding should never be ignored.
Let them know the pain is intolerable and their solution just is not working.
There has to be staff to look after you even though it is a holiday.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

Sorry forgot to add that info. They did a complete CBC. They also checked my hemoglobin 2 times 4 hours apart. No real change in the numbers. They did cross match my blood type in case of a transfusion. It's York hospital in York PA. WE WERE QUIT SUPRISED OURSELVES THEY SENT ME HOME BLEEDING! I have been thinking about going back in since I develpoed new symptoms (ulcers and back pain) and the meds are not working. I was having a bm every 40 min but since they put me on pain meds and I'm not eating I'm only having bm like 4-6 times now. Still bloddy though. Honestly scared. I have a 20th month old and this is all very hard!

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your situation and hope you get better but just wanted to say hey to another Pennsylvanian, I currently live in Lancaster

Your new symptoms together with the previous ones are a good reason for you to
consider making a return visit to the ER.Especially with the continued bleeding.

Hey to another Central Pennsylvanian!!! I know it's about a half hour drive from York, but I've always had great GI care at Harrisburg Hospital. Still working through an official diagnosis, unfortunately, but they've helped me manage sudden flares a few times. I'm currently using Jackson Sieglebaum in Camp Hill, and they are EXCEPTIONAL in moving the process along.

Hang in there, you shouldn't have to feel so lousy!!!

Thank you everyone. I did end up going back to er. They latterly did nothing. Hemoglobin did not drop much I was told. Tried different pain meds but it didn't work. They refused to try different nausea meds. They just sent me home again. Sigh

Are you talking about the GI place on Union Deposit Road?

Many people, especially in an active flare, do indeed experience pain and cramping. There are other potential causes other than IBD, but I'm glad you're going to a gastroenterologist so they can get to the bottom of this for you.

Good luck!

UPDATE:
I just had my colonoscopy yesterday and the doc gave me pics with the findings. It says patchy inflammation in descending colon, several erosions with granularity and erythema in the descending colon and sigmoid colon compatible with colitis, rectal polyp and polyps (2 mm) in the rectum. Biopsy was taken of the polyps and the erosion and erythema.

I have severe pain when I eat (and sometimes drink). I called my gi to see what I could eat (assuming I'm flaring) and he proceeds to tell me my colitis (depending for sure on the biopsy) is not flaring aT this time. So I'm like what the heck is going on. They don't want me to take pain meds unless I have severe pain...well ok. Soon I put something in my stomach I have severe pain. He went on to tell me he wants to do an endo to see if I have ulcers.

Has anyone had anything like this? Could I possibely have chrons? He has me on Zantac and maallox. :ybatty::eek:

Getting an endoscopy and other tests such as a small bowel series, capsule endoscopy, or MRE so that your small bowel can be evaluated sounds like a good idea to me.

Yes, it's possible that you have Crohn's. But there are other possibilities as well. Let us know what the biopsy results say and ask your doctor about evaluating your small bowel.

Update:
Well scope showed inflammation where my esophagus and stomach meets...he took a biopsy of that and also a biopsy of my small intestine. (he said that looked ok but he wanted to be certain) . Now just waiting on all biopsy from both scopes.

My throat is scratchy ( which I know is normal) ..I have a cough and my stomach feels like I did 1000 sit ups...WEIRD

Update : endoscopy came back fine...possible lil acid reflux. The colonoscopy had to be sent out to another lab to re check. Assuming they found something? Anyone heard of this happening?

I don't think you can assume anything based upon them sending it for another opinion. Fingers crossed that you get some answers :)
