Almost died

Hello all, new here looking for some feedback.

48 year male with crohns since 1999
Was on remicade from 2000 to 2010 worked ok still had some flares
2011 had protocolectomy to to high grade dyplysia in rectum
Off remicade from surgery
January 2014 due to stress i developed 2 fistulas and a blockage by stoma, drs put me on humira to see if i could avoid surgeyr for blockage
Need surgeyr june 2014 to correct blockage, fistulas healed fine
A few months ago i started getting stomach pain, dr switched me to entyvio and mexthrotrate, had 0 and 2 of entyvio and i think 5 weekly shots of mexthrotate.
Work up about 1 month ago with worse pain in stomach ever, rushed to hospital, ct done they saw air is stomach cavity, emergency surgery surgeon could not find leak but last 6 inches of small intestine was dead which was removed.
Been off of mexthrotate and entyvio since surgery just on 30 mg prednisone GI says I need to get better before i can return to crohns drugs. I told gi im afraid of mexthrptrate and entyvio and dont want to go back on. He says maybe back to humira or remicade.
Im leaning to get back on remicade.

Question is i have never been this sick so i feel either mexthrtrate or entvyio could have cause me to have surgery.
Anyone here every hear of any similar issues as i just went through and any advice.

Welcome. You might want to ask the doctor if he thinks there is a possibility that you could have developed antibodies towards either Humira or Remicade. If so, you might ask about Stelara .

No experience but there are other meds
Stelera and simponi can be used for crohns
Stelera was just approved and is not and anti tnf alpha drug g
Simponi is though

Gi did mention stelara as well.
Just a little scared of any new drug right now.

Before going back to remicade or humira you need to have antibodies test run. Since you have been on them previously the risk is higher that your body has developed antibodies making the drug ineffective and causing a reaction.
