When I had them bad it was when I was first diagnosed and I didn't know about special diets or anything so I just ate what I always ate and it took about 6 months to get better...I had them for over a year though before I was diagnosed. If you are having hard stools then ask your doctor if you can take miralax. Just call him up and they should tell you. You can get it at walmart or most pharmacies. It loosens up the stool and the first stool you have will probably be hard but after that it will get better. Take a day off if you are working or do it on the weekend and take a dose of it in your choice of drink, don't take it in water(it's the only drink that it doesn't taste good in), every hour for five hours or until you get everything out. That's if you are constipated which I would guess you are. It always helps me and it makes things a little less painful.
Soaking helps because it moisturizes the area. Fissures happen because the skin is dry and it leads to tears. If you have ever had a little tear on the side of your lips where the upper and lower lip meet then you know what a fissure looks like on the bottom end. They are the same thing just on opposite ends. Soaking allows fissures to re-moisturize and makes sure you keep the area clean so it doesn't get infected as that will only intensify the pain.
I would suggest a liquid diet for the next few days and then start adding foods back into your system. Drink plenty of water and gatorade. Make sure you are well hydrated. Get plenty of jello and broth and eat that. Don't eat red meat right now. Smoothies made from fruits and ice are also okay as you probably need the fiber. Pudding is also okay but eat in moderation.
