Yep. I have quite big parastomal hernia around my stoma. Very bad pains when i stand, when i just lie on my back, pain goes away. There is a bulge around my stoma and it is rock hard. My stomanurse and GI told me to go to ER right now. I ask then what they can do about it and they say that it has to mayby ct scan and propaply a surgery cos it making me so ill. I am so sick of this.. first stoma (which i'm okey with, then parastomal pyoderma gangrenosun and then tadaa, effing hernia.

Okay so it sounds like a partial obstruction due to he hernia. I get those all the time. The hospital is the best course of action, it can resolve by itself but it will get painful. The hospital can medicate you to make it comfortable. When it happens to me they load me up with painkillers and push everything back into place.

The hernia can be fixed They do a simple repair, where they put everything where is should go and then sew it all up. But they can only fix it once, advanced fixing generally requires mesh and if they use that the reversal will be very difficult. For me if I had the mesh put in I would not have been able to get the reversal.

Thanks vonfunk! I was yesterday at the ER, they send me home though. My stoma starts to work there, so i think i was partially blocked. I saw surgeon there and she said that there is no need to stay there because nothing happens there while easter holiday. If i get totally blocked, or partially, started vomiting then i have to go back. They send y papers to my GI and CRsurgeon so they shpuld call me and we have to think what to do. Reverse surgery and hernia repair, or permanent stoma and hernia repair.

Yu said that repair with mesh you could not get reverse surgery? Why? I dont't know yet do i want to try reconnect my plumping or do i want permanent stoma and remove my rectum.

But really, like this, i can't be much longer, It is horrible! Even a little walk with tiny tiny uphill maked hernia pop up and pains is horrible. Glad that i get fairly pain-free when i lie on my back and i think everything goes back where they should be.

According to my doctor when you use the mesh the small intestine starts to heal in such a way that it will become permanently attached to the mesh. He didn't go too heavily into the mechanics behind it.

I had planned on keeping my stoma as well however I have major issues with obstructions, I've already had 4 or 5 this year. My surgeon pointed out that if I get the reversal, and after a year or two absolutely hate it, I can always have surgery to put the stoma back.

I saw my surgeon and Gi today. They can't use mesh with loop stomas so plan is to make my loopcolostomy to end colostomy and support my muscles around my stoma with somekind of mesh. They don't remove my rectum unless it's a huge mess. They leave me the option if i ever want to try to have a reverse surgery.

Now i just have to wait. There is quite long waiting list and it should take at least four weeks before i get my surgery. Can't wait! I can't live like this for very long.

Best of luck. I had parastomal hernias for a couple of years, they refused to consider mesh options.

Thanks! I hope i get the surgery date as soon as possiple. I hate this waiting game..

Is there some kind of bad experiences with hernia repair with mesh?
