Hi guys...
Im just after some advice from anyone who is on infliximab.
I have come down with yet another cold but this time a lovely Horrendous cough with it! Im due my infliximab infusion on Wednesday, do i go ahead with it...or should i see my Dr tomorrow to discuss? Its not the cold im worried about, just the cough...starting to cough up some lovely mucus with it now :/
I know they say to take infections seriously whilst on it, but i dont want to waste the time of my Dr or my Therapy nurse at the hospital?

I am sorry you are sick again. I would mention it to your Gastro doc about being sick with this cough before having the next infusion. I mean since infliximib is an immune supressor, it would be a good idea to ask just to be sure.

I hate winter with all the colds and crap that are all around. I am very anal about washing my hands A LOT, especially before I eat anything. Also wash your hands after going to a store or being out anywhere where you have touched stuff. And a big one is, Never touch your mouth, face, nose or eyes unless you have washed your hands first. This way you will lower your chance of catching colds and flus. It really does help..

hi nikki,
if the mucous you are coughing up is coloured, ie green or yellow, its an infection im afraid. and all infections can lead to complications if left untreated.
if its clear then its probably ok.
in my experience ive needed to get checked over by someone before the infusion.
try and see your gp or pcp beforehand to get it checked out or give the centre a call.
do you not need labs done before every infusion? normally they'll show increased WBC if theres an active infection going on.
let your gp decide for you.

My consultant told me it's okay to get an infusion with a cold, but if you have green or yellow mucous, it's a big no no.
