what meds do you take when you have has your bowel taken out

After surgery or as maintenance? For me, I was on Demerol and Gravol for pain and nausea right after surgery, and I'm currently not on any Crohn's meds.

I only had my sigmoid out and I have Crohn's. So, I am on Pentasa. I need to change my sig, but the 6MP did a number on me.

If you have UC you are cured without a colon. If you have crohns, the SOB can show up elsewhere. Can, but not always will!

So, some of us take meds with crohns after surgery as well.

Hey Boza! I had colon and rectum out 6 1/2 weeks ago. I no longer take any Crohn's meds. I used to take prednisone, Azathioprine, Asacol, Protonix. I still take Protonix, B Complex, Folic Acid, and Calcium. It's pure bliss! It's been 12 years since Crohn's diagnosis--was in large bowel. Realizing the SOB (like Misty said) can go anywhere--I'm keepin the faith--and enjoying not being sick. In the hospital, they gave me toradol and demerol for pain relief. Demerol was yummy! LOL! thanks guys i think he wants to take out my large bowel aswell but i'm gonna ask if i can have just the colon and rectum out hope it takes care of the bucket loads of mucus i leak every night and i just feel like crap so i'm close to having surgery

Although it would be nice if our colons would get under control..ahem, try to have them rest it by giving you a temp stoma if possible at first. Thats what I WISH they'd have done to me. I'm still gonna fight this bastard colon of mine. If mine hadnt been an emergency, I wouldve told them to bypass it for a period with a stoma, and then reattach. If my colon 'wins' it will be on my mantle so I can spit at it daily. Just sayin.

stuck at the hospital started vomiting and feeling like shit now getting experimented on with steroids and ct scand and what not the doc saw me today but they are gonna sit down with the whole gastro team and see what happens i got this new pain under my belly button when stool gets there and when i have to pass it hurts like hell like bad period pain but im a guy dunno what they're gonna do see what they say
