Waving to all my friends! And some new ones I haven't *met* yet!
I figured I owe you all a very long overdue update on Anthony. Being that he is turning 15 on Sunday and acting EVERY bit of a teenager I thought now was a good time. It brings tears to my eyes to think of where we were a year ago: with a GI who wasn't doing anything for him, Ant spending most of his days and nights on the couch in pain. Countless tests and hospital stays.
He has gotten his life back!
I am leery to even write that because to be honest, I am always afraid of what tomorrow can bring. However, I figure you guys could use some positive stuff too. Since his surgery in late January, Anthony has had one minor flare (which could have potentially been a virus, just a couple days) and has had D once in a while, no pain. NO pain.
He has been up and running around like a normal kid. No more joint pain!
He has GROWN over 3 inches!!! (Maybe even more, this was as of 2 months ago - Woo Hoo!)
May be TMI, but because his puberty was delayed, that has kicked in.
He has trouble tolerating corn products so we stay away from those items, but that is about it so far. Sorry, I don't know what his latest labs were but his doctors at Mt. Sinai (LOVE THEM!) were all so very pleased and said they couldn't be any better - inflammation markers all the way down, everything looks great!
He is only taking the 6mp at this point (50 mg.) and a daily vitamin. (aside from asthma meds, unrelated)
I think about you guys all the time and will try to check in more often.
Oh, and because of this, Anthony is contemplating a career change from his dream of being a Vet to possible GI/Colo-rectal Surgeon. Or Psychologist. Lol!
Sending you all HUGS!!!
Kelly
