anti-inflammatory foods listing

so i decided i will list some foods that are anti-inflammatory, please feel free to add to the list!

-aloe vera
-flaxseed oil
-peppermint
-licorice
-pineapple (eat only when not flaring)
-garlic
-ginger
-turmeric
-onion

I find all kinds of fish seem to be anti inflamatory .... seabass... tuna... cod .... sea bream...... salmon.... steamed or grilled....

If the sign says sweet cherries, those are the sweet ones. (ha)
Usually the dark ones are sweet, and the bright red/yellow ones are sour.

Too bad garlic and onions are anti-inflam. They kill my belly.

nope babe yogurt is dairy, id avoid it or atleast go for soy yogurt if i were you. anti-inflammatory foods will mostly if not exclusively be found in fruits and veggies, as well as herbs.

And fish (the vegan didn't want to hear that :D )

Yes, we're all entitled to our own lifechoices, one of my closest weightlifting friends from work is a veggie, I tease him a good bit, all in fun.

Seriously though, I eat reg yogurt and have no problems, and it's fairly cheap, good protein, and great for probiotics. I'd say if it gives you problems avoid it, but no reason to label it a problem pretentiously and slap a soy substitute requirement on yet another product....I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat just leaves (but I LOVE my romaine/spinach salads, often with chicken, yes, blackened grilled chicken breast)....c'mon Hippie, everyone's doing it :allright: :ytongue:

The Omega 3 in Fish has EPA and DHA, you won't find the identical benefits/ratio in any flax source. :D

Have you not heard that he was a health nut??

--shhh it's a secret-----

:whistleinnocently:

Thanks Isla. Taddle tale.

Basically it's all from bodybuilding/fitness...especially since diet is key (that's a big mantra) in any goal, you are forced to do research on your own or find out from the bigger guys, the veterans. You won't go anywhere if you just go at it without knowing things thoroughly. You spend so much time reading and researching studies and exercise science articles from PhD's, just the same as we are all our own researchers on Crohns, hours a day reading on a Remicade blog or whatever...

The difference is before it was for a lifestyle (optional), now, like all of us here, I read to not suffer so much.

I still consider myself a "health nut", just a handicapped one. I am not too healthy as of now, and can't eat nuts. Sucks.

HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA

:king:

read just the last four words of your post..

I really have to get my mind out of the gutter!!

Fish is prob the easiest source to get DHA & EPA but when its coupled with the mercury, toxins, pcb's, and dioxins and the lead that it has it is not worth it. I get my DHA the same way the fishies do, through algae. As far as EPA we need a small amount and ALA in flax does convert in the body at 5% rate to DHA and EPA.

Well, "need EPA" is a little different than "benefit from added EPA"...Trust me, plants are not without toxins, even if you try to grow them yourself. I'm not a carnivore, I'm in fact a huge fan of plant-grown sources (many unique ones)...I just prefer the sources of the nutrients from healthy (I believe there's "healthy" ones) sources of meat, and don't want to debate about what I believe the human body has evolved to consume from it's physiology. Mercury depends on the size of the fish, and it's not the only food we can get it from. I still respect your choices, I'm not trying to convert you (as I wouldn't expect you to convert someone else), just trying to toss "the other side" on the table.

Krill Oil has the same benefits as fish oil minus the mercury. I take it every day, mostly because it got rid of my dandruff. It seems to have one thing or another that I need.

Oregano is a anti-inflammatory...but I can't always handle it raw...thank god for pills:tongue:

Grilled chicken? I eat stuff not fried and do ok. Steak is hard to eat so i avoid it if I can. Yogurt has not hurt me yet but I only eat a little here and there. Like one in a day or two.

agreed... I prefer Alaskan wild salmon, or some big fat tuna steaks or Mahi Mahi... I am still exploring what my palate prefers most... definitely need to try that seabass

I just started eating fish. As I'm trying to give up white flour, I needed more things to eat.
I have noticed no ill effects from the fish.
