Been on antibiotics for the last several days and it seems to be helping with the (commonly called)irritable bowel type symptoms. This also happened a few months ago when I was on them for a month due to an infection non related to my intestinal problems(symptoms returned slowly after about two/three weeks of stopping them) . Still have an underlying pain but both times they have made an improvement on my over all intestinal symptoms.

Any one experience something like this or have input?

Yes same thing for me took ABs for other reasons and gas bloating urgency cleared up
I think it is due to the bowels being overloaded with bad bacteria and good ones are unable to colonize.
I found it very helpful to follow the ABs with probiotics.
Also bacteria are the likely primary protagonists for crohns.
What AB did you take.
For me it was clindamycin

Thanks for the reply Robrich

The first antibiotics I took were first a penicillin based one ,and then when that didn't clear up the infection I had, they put me on a sulfa based one (sorry I am not sure the names right now)

Just recently for my intestinal issues ( was running a moderate fever) I was put on Cipro and Flagyl . I started having tingling, numbness, and weakness in my arms and hands so I quit taking the Cipro as it is known for that and have continued on the Flagyl and am doing better!

Just for clarification I have not been diagnosed with crohns yet as I am still waiting on the colonoscopy.

Sulfa was probably bactrim.
Cipro did that to me too. Flagyl can do it also but is possibly reversible
Good luck with the colonoscopy.
Diverticular disease is another possibility, along with pathogens like c diff. Or parasites. All Better than crohns if not too far along
Either way quality probiotics are very important for you on a regular basis.

They did find diverticular changes(what they called them) with my CT scan. But said they were not inflamed or infected in any way.

Also have had testing for the c diff along with h pylori and any parasites.
