antibiotics

hello everyone. I;ve another question for you. I seen dentist 3 months ago and he told me i have an inflamed tooth so he prescibed amoxillian. I went back 2 days later with bad toothache and he gives me another prescription for amoxillan, yet i told him i don't like taking them because of my colitis. I didn't take the 2nd pills. He's busy so i can't see him until next monday from 3 months ago. Well a week already and a really bad toothache with jaw and ear pain. I forgot he also said i have temporomandubular joint disorder and to wear a hockey guard. I seen family dr. today for toothache and he prescribed my cloxacillan. I didn't take yet, but going in tommorow to dentist to make sure if its infected. I will take them if it is. The question i have is there anyone here that has had to take antibiotics for infections and got so sick in flare and had to stop them. What happens to the infection. My stomach had been acting up and i really hate to take this pill.

Yes. My spouse took Ciprofloxacin for traveller's diarrhea after a trip to Mexico and then came down with a bad flare. Most antibiotics can cause diarrhea (aka irritation to the lining of the GI tract). Antibiotics also disrupt the balance of bacteria in your gut.

I think you need to know whether you have an abscess or a cavity. If it is a cavity, have them drill it out. If you have an abscess, you will have take antibiotics. Ask them to lance it...and then take the shortest course of antibiotics possible. Then consider starting probiotics to try and restore the balance of bacteria in your gut.

Hiya

I'm on a weeks course of Amoxicillin. I had a tooth extracted 10 days ago and the injection site became infected. It was a great big painful ulcer!
So far, so good, I haven't flared up, and the ulcer went 'pop' and tasted foul!
I'm not sure what you should do for the best, but toothache is the most painful bloody thing ever! I think if you have an infection, then you can't fight it by yourself.
