Hi,

Has anyone been prescribed Diflucan for Crohn's Disease for an extended time and modified their diet by eliminating grains and sugar? My 16 year old son has Crohn's Disease for the last 7 years and we have tried all different medications such as Imuran, 6-MP, prednisone, and different antibiotics. I have read a book called, "The Fungus Link" by Doug A. Kaufmann and suggests elimination of grains and sugar along with Antifungal medication such as Diflucan or Fluconazole helps with Crohn's Disease. Has anyone tried this approach? My son has recently been prescribed prednisone for a very bad flare. We are now trying to find a medication to help him stabilize for the long term.He is unable to continue on the prednisone since he is still growing up. We have recently tried LDN but this has increased his diarrhea at night. I appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi Blue Eyes, I was diagnosed with Thrush in early Sept, was prescribed fluconozole (antifungal). I am trying to follow a no sugar/ grain diet...... very hard. Once I get this Thrush under control, I can start adding some sugar and grains back in.
It is very hard trying to come up with ideas to eat.
I also read some where about the link between fungal infections and Crohns.
I should look up this book. Thanks!
