Anus is swollen

its kind of disturbing but I thought to myself what the hell you guys have all been there before anyways. Here goes, so my stomach has been upset the past few days (I am trying to avoid another flare up) and my anus has swelled up...Im a bit worried about it...does anyone know what could have caused it? Is it a crohn's thing??? i dont really know but should i be worried??

Hmmm, not quite sure about this! The first thing that sprang to mind is a prolapse, where a bit of your rectum pops out so there is like a ring around your anus. If this is the case you can put some tp on your finger and push it back in!

If that's not it I guess it could be a hemmy or fissure that's got infected. Any blood or pus or soreness with the swelling?

Other than that I guess if your tummy's upset you're going to the loo more often, and having to wipe more, so your bum could be having a reaction to that. Have you tried using a barrier cream (like vaseline) after going to the toilet?

Oh, one more thing that occured to me, have you changed any products that you use down there (tp, wash powder, undies, creams etc). If so you could have a slight allergic reaction- even if the rest of your skin hasn't reacted, your anus might be a bit vulnerable at the mo!

thanks for all the advice rebecca theres a bit of blood so i guess its probably infected...im off to the doctors just in case anyways
