I am having surgery in 2 weeks and it's finally hitting me. My first crohns surgery was 20 years ago and it was emergency. It was open surgery and it was a rough recovery but it gave me 15 years of remission. Since then I've been on Humira and now Remicade and I have too much scar tissue and the disease came back with a vengeance. So it's time for my second surgery. This time it's planned and I can't remember what to expect. The doc is going to attempt lapro but I am expecting open. Has anyone had lapro after an open surgery? I also had a scar revision 10 years ago and I bet there's scar tissue from that. I just don't see how they can do it laproscopically. How is the recovery? Am I going to be completely bedridden for 5 weeks? Has anyone gone out when they got their strength back? I am very anxious. I am going to go crazy sitting home. I have good/bad days and I'm feeling good now and I guess I'm nervous that I will feel worse for the next 6 months post surgery.

I went through lapro after two conventional surgery. For me the recovery was quicker and less pain from the incision. I was out of the bed after about a week and moving around after about 3 week. It probably took 8 weeks before I felt "normal".

My son had a right hemicolectomy done lapro he had not had surgey before he was sitting in a chair the day after surgery , walking about ward day two ,after about a week he was walking normally and back to school week 4 post op.
