Hiya everybody
can anyone help me with this question?
Yesterday I went to the dentist and she prepared me for 2 root fillings (stage one)
She drilled out the old fillings and she has packed them with some medication, so she said.
These are to be kept in place for 10 days to 'help kill the nerve and any bacteria' she said. I didn't ask what it was tho.
I'm to go back 13th June for stage 2, the root canal treatment and prep for crowns etc.
My question is, what is this gunk in my teeth, it is knocking me sick, I feel like vomiting, have terrible belly ache too. It tastes like how Germolene smells if that makes sense. It is so potent that when I talk everyone can smell it. It is the most awful taste, I feel so nauseous and dizzy. Food tastes awful, I have no appetite neither, just pains in belly.
I tried to call the dentist to ask but she wasn't available. I can't find it on the Internet neither.
I'm scared that this is gonna kick off a flare, I feel awful.
Does anyone know what it is? Is it an antibiotic?
Cheers xxx

I think that it's a composite that usually contains Eugenol (the active ingredient of Cloves' Oil). Would it make sens by the smell?

Thank you so much Jane, that's it!
I've just researched it, seems harmful in some ways, beneficial in others. I'm on HRT and it says it interacts with oestrogens?
Thanks again xxx

Well, I know this isn't what one would want to hear! It might be best though to have the teeth pulled instead of having root canals done. The medicine being given will not be able to kill off the bacteria. The controversy with root canals is that the teeth remain infected causing infection problems in other parts of the body over time.

For some reason dentists say that teeth that have died are different and can be saved with a root canal. Other parts of the body are not treated the same way though. When other sections die they are removed for health reasons. For example if a toe becomes frost bitten, surgeons will remove the toe to stop it from becoming infected. If the dead toe was to remain, it would cause the infection to spread to other parts of the body.

Here is an article by a Dentist about the controversy of root canals.

If it isn't to late, with the treatment being given, it might be possible to regrow dentin in your teeth, keeping them alive and pain free. The ideas in these articles have worked for me.

Good luck with what ever path taken! I was hoping there was a smily icon with a tooth missing grin. I'll go with the big teethy smile instead. :D

Thank you Beach, interesting stuff, frightened the hell out of me tho!
I've had 2 root canal treatments done before, many years ago. She is reluctant to extract them as they are in a row, thus causing shift of the other teeth and changing the bite.
I don't have any infection in these teeth, I had an abcess with the last lot, and metronidazole cleared it up.
I'm putting all my faith in her, that this is the right way to go!
