I know you have to be out there somewhere....

Do any of you like gaming and if so what? I am currently playing Portal 2 and loving it!
Also a fan of Minecraft and can't wait to get my hands on Skyrim. I don't have money to buy tons and not enough memory on my Mac, but when there's a Steam sale I pay attention.

Favourite old school games:
Mario cart on the N64
Commander Keen
Grim Fandango
Sam n' Max Hit the Road
Simcity (the first one)
Plus a whole range of DOS text adventure games.

I guess I used to be. Somewhere along the line I went from a gamer to a casual gamer. Nowadays I mostly play the Sims 3 and little games I download onto my Kindle Fire. I think this means I'm getting old! Eek!

My favorite games I used to play are things like Shenmue, Kingdom Hearts, Space Channel 5, and Skies of Arcadia (lots of Dreamcast titles there and I'd say that's my favorite platform!).

I collect old-school consoles (a few newer ones too), though. I have:

Coleco Vision
Commodore 64
Atari 2600
Magnavox Odyssey
Super Pong system
NES
SNES
N64
GameCube
Wii
Genesis
Saturn
Dreamcast
PS2 (had a PS1 but it broke)

Handheld I have:
Original Gameboy
Gameboy color
Gameboy Advance
Sega Game Gear
Original DS
DS Lite

There are probably other consoles and handhelds I'm forgetting, those are the main ones though! We have cool accessories too like R.O.B. the Nintendo Robot, and a Famicom Power glove.

And I have one cabinet arcade machine although it's piecemeal. It's a Rampage game inside of a Moon Patrol cabinet. At some point hubby and I are going to re-finish the cabinet to look like a proper Rampage cabinet, that will be really cool.

I'm like Cat, when I was younger I played a lot. My older sister got a Pong for a birthday gift, and we played that. Then, I had an Atari when I was in middle school. I used to play Space Invaders for hours with my brother on the weekends. Then I got a Nintendo, and we played Mario for hours. We have a Wii now and my son played New Super Mario Bros. for months until he finally was able to defeat Bowser and rescue Princess Peach. I also played DOS games on our Commodore 64 and later on our home computer we played Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.

Now I play Words with Friends on my phone, but not much else except with my son.

I guess the games I listed here show how old I am.

Commander Keen and the Invasion of the Vorticons!
Wolfenstein
and...
"You are in a maze of twisty passages all alike".

I am a gamer Mom. Sitting here right now watching my youngest play Skyrim, and waiting my turn  When he goes to boot camp in May, it's all mine Muhahahahaha!

I love all the Spyro games, Super Mario Brothers series, Myst and it's sequels, Duke Nukem, etc.

We have all the consoles we have ever bought and they still work. Old grey Game Boy bricks and such.

I love Halo, Call of Duty, etc. I love fragging my kids. :rof:

Loved all the Doom series too. Nothing relieves stress like splattering some cacodemons.

Some days I cannot brain enough to play, so then I fall back on hidden object games or Text Twist.

I'll play anything, so long as it distracts me from IRL, and passes time :D

Favs?

DK64, TES3, Majora's Mask, Demon's Souls & Dark Souls, DA:O

I'm a sucker for dark stories and a total escapist :/

i love my Command and Conquer games , dont mind a bit of runescape, love settlers 7 to pass away many hours. found skyrim boring after a few days. and afraid to say i do love railroad games and simulators :(

still have a Amiga 4000 which i just cant seem to get away from, the games are just so playable compaired to lots of the modern stuff.

facebook - angry birds - very frustrating when playing against others.

I was a hardcore player of world of warcraft before. That was when I was not going to school otherwise it's pretty much impossible. Since I mostly play random wii games.

I played Everquest then moved to WoW. Not playing anything at the moment. I really miss WoW though. Just have too much stuff going on at the moment.

Not one I have heard of, David, sorry. Was just imagining your laughter when I post that the only games I played were on facebook...cafe world, farmville, mafia wars.

A good selection of games from everyone!
I used to play Runescape a bit but was never a WoW player. If I was I'd be a female dwarf hunter and a Draenai paladin.. just not willing to give money to play tbh.

David, I've never looked at Diablo, I think it might creep me out too much! I'm a very jumpy person.
I have never been so good at shooting games either because you never know what's round the corner and I jump too much.

diesanduhr, I've never heard of Ragnarok Online, is it an MMORPG?

Right now though I am playing a lot of Minecraft and Portal 2. Brilliant stuff.

If anyone has Steam feel free to add me. Macflea.

I do love paper manuals and jewel cases, it reminds me of Lemmings, Grim Fandango, Worms and Tomb Raider.

But I like the Steam community aspect, seeing what friends are playing etc. Also now I have a Mac discs aren't the way to go. It also saves the hassle of several discs, installation codes and stuff I always struggled to get working!
I haven't had Steam for long, but it is good for keeping in touch with people on servers I play also.

Does Angry Birds count??? lol I'm addicted to that game....and now there's Angry Birds in Space!! omg how am I going to cope!?! I used to play Zelda etc eons ago, but no longer have any consoles. I'm happy to say Sam no longer plays Battlefield 2.....OMG I hated that game, cos he was ALWAYS playing it with his team. Sometimes I'd be sat in the same room as him watching tv/comedy on the laptop, every so often laughing my head off at something....was amusing for him and his team cos it was usually at some inappropriate/tense moment in their game haha!!...singing along to songs didn't go down as well though lol

Chrismac, I love paper manuals too! Yes, that's another thing I collect, ha ha. I have a whole box of them, mostly NES manuals and a few Atari catalogs.

On the subject of video games, has anyone else ever been to E3? I went in 2006 (back when I would still consider myself a gamer and not just a casual gamer). Yes, E3 is "industry only" and by invitation only - my hubby does animation and has worked on video games. He got a colleague of his to get us both invited (they fudged some paperwork to indicate that I'm an "artist" so that I could go too). It was crazy and fun. That was when the XBox 360 had just come out, and Wii and PS3 hadn't yet been released. They actually announced the price for PS3 at that E3 convention, and when we all heard it was going to cost $699 or some ridiculous BS like that, everybody headed over to the Wii booth! Ha ha!

No, I've never been to any game related things, I think it would be fun though.. just to see what it's like.

PS3 and Wii was that long ago? Wow.

Someday I will be independently wealthy with my disease under control, an anti-freeze-cooled gaming monster machine, and a headset and mic permanently affixed to my geeky noggin.

I don't play very many video games, but when I do its Grand Theft Auto.... And I go around destroying EVERYTHING! Lol

I love the spyro games, including skylander. Portal 2 is awesome, I totally lose track of time playing it! I've also played call of duty and battlefield with hubby occasionally. We love to play just dance games as a family, too. I guess I'd say I'm a casual gamer now. There was a time when I played more, but that was before kids!

Me too, Jackie. I can play Portal and forget the time. I'm currently stuck and it's really bugging me. But I'll get it..

reading through these has reminded me , yes portal 2 is a seriously cool game , the ending is a bit on the strange side though.

GTA - san andreas, has to be the best version, still play this when i have a few hours to spare, cant pass the flying missions though :(

Angry Birds - hell the whole family are into this now , can be very frustrating doing the same level again and again just to get a higher score.

hey SAWDUST -- got the anti freeze cooled games machine, not so hot on the other things though :)

Unfortunately I got stuck with one of the San Andreas games that freeze if you go too fast so I'm stuck with Vice City until I can get a different one. I don't play enough to get a new system so I'm still using PS2. I just do enough missions to get some stuff and then use cheats for unlimited health/weapons and go to town lol

Yay! Finally someone! If you want to party when it comes out hit me up. I plan to go to hardcore at level 10 though. I love HC.

Pumped for D3 to be released!! I probably put more hrs into D2 than anything else in my life hahah (That and The Sims for PC).
I was under the impression that you had to play through single player on SC first before you could go to HC..? It was like this in D2 and I didn't think they had plans to change it.. (annoying for a lot of people, myself included)

Awesome Ducey! :)

And yes, they changed it. Once you hit level 10 in SC you can now go to HC. I'm in the D3 beta. It's a great game and is going to be just as addictive as D2.

Just recently got a 360, thanks to my awesome wife. I'm a total noob, but I really love playing Forza 4. Probably can't handle going online and getting killed over-and-over in a competitive first-person-shooter just yet, hahaha...

David, I don't have a PC for gaming, but I used to LOVE the original Diablo when I was younger. The music in that game was rad, and it was super creepy.

Ummm....does Clue and the Game of Life count? :rof:

I'm a board game nerd.

I'll kick your butt in Trivial Pursuit. :emot-dance:

I'm totally addicted to the Monster Hunter series on the PSP. I even play the Japanese versions...though I can barely read any Japanese.

Hardcore Gamer.

SarahAnne, I used to love playing Game of Life! Haha. Also Cluedo (as we Brits call it). I used to play a lot of Monopoly and although I was never good at Chess I would have a lot of fun playing forts with the sets.

I'll kick your butt at the 90's family Trivial Pursuit.. maybe not so much now.

Me too, Jackie. I can play Portal and forget the time. I'm currently stuck and it's really bugging me. But I'll get it..

I just spent 2 evenings trying to get past 1 level! It really makes you stop and think, though. Hoping I don't get to the end too soon, I haven't seen anything about portal 3!

i am indeed a gamer, i play basically anything i can get my hands on. favorite games being dead space 1 & 2, l4d, portal 1 & 2, minecraft, super meat boy, anything. you name it i play it

For me:
skyrim
The Witcher
Mass effect
Civ 5

Oh and world of goo on the iPad. Perfect for long toilet visits :)

David: are you enjoying D3? I enjoyed the previous ones but don't like the thought of having to be online for a single player game!!

I'd keep playing WoW if I could afford it. I'd also play Diablo III if my video card could support it (crashed my computer during the beta). :p

I have various games for the PS3, PS2, XBOX 360 and the Wii. I liked .Hack, Kingdom Hearts, Fable and many others.

What are some good free online games?

Another Diablo III player here, but otherwise not much of a gamer. I mostly stick to RTS like Starcraft, Dungeon Keeper 2 or the Command & Conquer series. I rarely play unless either with mates, or for distraction as pain relief, so I guess I'm more of a "social gamer" :)

If you want some good free shooters, try Xonotic or Red Eclipse, and they will run on practically any computer (yes, Linux or OS X included)

I love gaming but am not the best. Zelda, duck hunt, gta, fable, sims 2, dragon age: origins, mario always a classic no matter how many times it's been done. I wish I could play wow and diablo lll but my computer is not the best. I hear skyrim is awesome, but wonder if it is an intense game. the last game I got I can't really play due to the pain I my hands from the crohns.
