I've been really tired the past couple of days... anyone have tips for fighting fatigue? I went to the gym to run and started throwing up today so that was out for me. Usually if I can get the blood flowing I can get my energy levels up.

amino acid pills used to give me a good boost when i played football in highschool. they do cost a bit of money but may help some. are you taking 6mp, pred, pentasa, etc.?

i know we're poppin a lot of pills, but a daily multi-vitamin could help a lot

Well, I noticed on the few occasions I got my body to tolerate red meat that I felt better. Think my iron was low. don't know if you can handle red meat, but if so, it might be worth trying. Be a good idea to get your blood tested as soon as possible

I agree with Kev, it sounds like low iron. I am checked every 2 months as mine seems to dip frequently. Also, hows the B12?

Hmm interesting, I hadn't thought about Iron. I did get a full CBC last week when I had my yearly physical but I don't think my iron was tested. I'm taking 20mg pred and 500mg Cipro 2x daily along with 500mg Flagyl 3x daily right now. I started noticing the fatigue right before they took me off the 40mg Pred couple weeks ago and its sort of been there since then. I asked my GP about it at the physical and he didn't seem too concerned, in fact thats why I'm on the cipro and flagyl, I asked him to put me on it on a hunch that I was fighting an infection or something. Right after I got out of the hospital in November I was feeling great and they had been treating me with pred, cipro and flagyl.

@Kev

I thought about that. It seemed to start right before they took me off the 40mg Pred but I wasn't eating very well which I think contributed to it. I drank a couple Boosts and had some Activia yogurt last night and it seemed to help. I'm not sure if its the placebo effect or it actually was beneficial. I'm starting a better diet today and I'll see if it helps.

Well, energy drinks and extra pro-biotics should help. don't think its a placebo. As for cutting back on pred... Hey, the atheletes been taking anabolic steriods for the extra energy, performance, stamina, muscle building benefits for years N years

Those benefits are definitely not placebo effect... and cutting back or tapering has to 'negatively' impact energy levels. It just stands to reason. But then, its me talking, and what does reason have to do with anything i'm likely to say?

Coconut oil will raise your metabolism and make you hungry as a result. It will relieve fatigue for a few days, but then your body adjusts to it. I never really paid attention if the anti fatigue part lasts or not.

Maybe I will test it out. I have not been using it since starting LDN and I have been fatigued myself lately. Coconut oil has some anecdotal evidence that it helps Crohn's also. I was symptom free when I started using it, so I cannot say that it works from my experience. Can't say it doesn't either.

Something about the medium chain fats in the Coconut oil is particularly easy for us to absorb. Can't remember the details off hand.

check out some literature on Flagyl and B12 deficiency. it can monkey with it along with the disease and you could be experiencing some of that especially taking so much of it. i think i remember some symptoms being tingling in hands and feet.

alot of people with crohn's are plagued with low iron too like others have mentioned. not sure a CBC checks for it or not but it's worth looking into as well. I would also get calcium checked as well because prednisone eats it like candy.
