anyone else have trouble losing weight??

i know that weight loss is pretty mush standard for CD, but since i came out of remission in 2007 i haven't been able to no matter what i try. i am an active person. i work on my feet, and am running around for at least half of my day. i don't drink, and i don't overeat. i keep track of my intake and have pretty much tried every diet out there. my dr is baffled and thinks it may be that my body doesn't absorb properly so it it stores everything... i've been thinking of trying the specific carbohydrate diet, or maybe going liquid for a time. i was just wondering if i am alone in this or if others are unable to lose too.

I have a hard time too but I dont do my exercises religiously and I was thinking you should get your thyroid checked? Could be?

Hmm, strange eh? Maybe your portion sizes? I eat smaller meals more through out the day , it tricks your body. But I think my body got wind of it

First off, your not alone. My experience is there are 2 types of people with CD. There are the ones that no matter what they do, they constantly lose weight and can't gain it back. The other, and I fall into this catagory, is where no matter what you do, you can't lose the weight and instead gain it.

I have tried diets but they never agree with my stomach. I have cut back on what I eat, had my thyroid checked and increased my walking..but I still gain weight. I have always big a big guy and as I get older it just gets that much harder to lose the weight.

There may not be anything physically wrong with you...it could just be your matabalism. From what I have learned and read..forget diets. Overall they don't work. Stick to normal meals with normal servings. Try to increase your exercise. Also remember that your mental wellbeing needs to feel fine besides the physical self.

I hope this helped a little and just remember. There are a lot of us out there with weight issues and CD. Your not alone or abnormal.

I'm in the opposite category. No matter what I do I can't gain weight. Anyone want to meet me half way? Lol

DD was taking Unicity Probionic for 2 weeks. I didn't refrigerate it. Oppps. Didn't know, so switched her to Kal, I test her urine pH, Bc she is on asacol and I want to make sure her pH is up and it was 7.5 last week and was down to 6.5 today. I think the Unicity was working better for her even though I didn't refrigerate it for 3 weeks.

I'm having the same problem. I can not loose the weight. I have a very small appetite, eat super healthy, never eat take out or junk food. It's very frustrating!!
My thyroid was out, but has been corrected with meds for the past 8 months....no difference in weight!

I'm new here, but joined to see what others were struggling with relating to weight gain and inability to loose it. I've had Crohns for 20+ yrs and I've never had this much of a problem with maintaining a healthy weight. In the last year I've put on a significant # of weight yet my routine and eating habits have not really changed. I think it may be exacerbated by hormonal changes coming on. I've tried high fiber, protein, low fat - but still gaining. I guess I have to burn more - so just need to get off my duff more. I noticed somebody said they have fatigue - which I do as well so all combined it gets me down.

I think I have hormonal issues and am investigating BHRT - bio identical hormone replacement and natural thyroid hormone replacement. My sister went to this dr and has had a much easier time losing weight once her hormones were more balanced.

I have alwasy leaned towards gaining weight and am currently my heaviest ever - which pisses my off because 2years ago I lost 50 pds and have slowly gined it all back despite the eating challenges I have had.

If you want to get your weight down, I suggest that you cut your carbohydrates down.

I changed my diet to scd and exhanged beer to red wine = lost 10 kg in 2 months, I had practiced sports 20 years regularly and I though my weight was normal until I lost that 10kg mostly from my waist(-10cm, had to buy new jeans and shirts, damn it was costly).

Now my BMI is 22 and I feel a lot better. Skinny people could use also scd, it will eventually stop diarrhea problems(took 3 weeks for me) and they start gaining some flesh on their bones. I think meds have also some role of being fat or skinny.
