-I would never do it again, because it takes 10 seconds for a doctor to drain it usually, so please don't do this yourself, it's dumb.

But I did it once, because I could feel where it was and opened it with a needle and drained the pus myself, long time ago. Has anyone else did this at one time? Thank you.

I did once...and I'd do it again. It didn't take much time or effort on my part, and the relief I felt was amazing. It's healed up and has never come back...that was 3 years ago.

I wish I would of done that this last time I had to deal with one. Prior to getting it lanced by a doc it would be about once every three months that I would have to do a little bathroom surgery on myself. I say this because it wasn't until I had a doc mess around with it that I developed Crohn's/IBS-D symptoms. Basically I just had a sharpened pair of tweezers that got an alcohol bath prior to pinch-cutting it open and let it drain. Night and day difference. No pain at all the next day and still had the $200 left in the wallet.

The first time I read this thread I thought "Wow that is basically insane." Now I am wondering if my abscess were somewhere more accessible if I would have a different story... (mine's in my terminal ileum).
