Ok I am the king of junkfood. I've pretty much cooked for myself since 12 years old. Microwave is god. I've always lived off of BK, Wendy's, etc. At home it would be pasta with crazy butter, hot pockets, frozen nuggets, mac n cheese, pizza, ya know. My diet never changed when I was diagnosed because all I really had was the poops and heartburn. Now with the obstructions and stuff I'm on a full liquid diet and I could honestly say I might go insane if I don't have a Domino's Deep Dish soon. OMG I can't believe I just brought that up. Sometimes I wanna eat it so bad I consider throwing it up right after just to chew and taste it. A couple of days ago I got brave and had 4 chicken nuggets and I paid for it in full. Once it hits that spot my stomach grows to an unreal size and i'm on the floor in tears, covered in sweat wanting to die. Currently my diet consists of Cup Noodles, lots of gatorade, jello, freeze pops, italian ice, jolly ranchers, and this no bake jello cheesecake pie which is my fav. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh add in the Prednisone so you all know the appetite issues. Once again i'm rambling cuz I never talk about this stuff so any feedback is welcomed.:ybatty:

I too suffer from obstructions. Though I hate to be the bearer of bad news, there isn't much else you can do. I know that you mentioned in another thread that you and your doctor were going to try to figure what was inflammation and what was scar tissue. Obstructions not only can be painful but they can be dangerous. If something gets stuck and a turn for the worse and poof you can perforate your bowel. If you don't know it has been perfed you can die.

I hate to be dramatic but the foods you love are really not worth dying for. Maybe once your scar tissue is removed and your inflammation is in remission you can "cheat" once in a while. But this should be done under your doc's supervision. You may even want to see a nutritionist.

You should try to go to a nutritionist when you get a chance. There are several recipes you could try to make that would let you eat the foods that you like without as much consequence. Good luck

Hey Skinz

I don't have obstructions but would suggest you go to a book store and buy a cookbook on "drinks". I'm sure there are plenty of recipes that will provide you with nourishment, variety, and make a you full. Perhaps you can buy a blender and become your own Jamba Juice headquarters.

I eat like crap too. I wish I didn't but I do.

I get obstructions as well, although lower down. I *have* to stick to the low-residue diet set down by the nutritionist otherwise I get bunged up for weeks. I'm allowed pasta though.

Not easy at the moment, with the steroids making me eat everything in the house. I'm up for surgery in a few months and I'm actually looking forward to it (sorta).

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm just gonna stick it out 2 more weeks which will be either Humira or surgery time. After that i'm gonna have to change my diet completely. It's def not worth dying for but AHH! sometimes it feels like it is.:ybatty: I used to eat like 4 hotdogs at once no bun. The Kayem deli ones too. Right now everytime I open the freezer they stare me in the face. I gotta leave em there though just to make me fight harder. Wierd. Plus Prednisone right now. Compare my profile pic to this one from today(Predni- Zoned Out). Scary

What you can eat and what you want to eat seem to be very subjective things. Personally I just love sweet stuff, but I've decided that there isn't really anything I can't do without... as long as I'm getting a fairly healthy diet.
I once thought I just couldn't live without chocolate... but now I just think of the wonderful acid reflux it brings on and I can do without it. If I'm feeling OK, I'll have some as a treat, I just won't eat it till I feel sick any more!
Personally, I find it easier not to have the stuff in the house, but everyone's different. Good luck with all that!

aw sorry you're having such a struggle right now Skinzdogg :( it sounds as if you're already having most of the things i'd recommend right now. how about soup, with no bits in?

i hope you get some relief from this either thru the meds or surgery - i know the surgery option isn't something we go into willingly, but if the obstruction is a stubborn one, and it's affecting your life so badly - it could be the way to go.
