Hello again to those that remember me, and hello to those who don't. I wondered if anyone had experience, especially anyone undiagnosed , of large colon polyps? I had a colonoscopy a couple of days ago to try and shed light on my current pain and symptoms and they removed a bloody looking polyp which was at least 15mm in size. I had a colonoscopy a few years ago which didn't show anything and so I wonder what a growth this size could mean.

I've already done a bit of research and am obviously glad the polyp was found and removed, it goes some way to explaining some of my current symptoms as well. I guess I'm just looking for a bit of advice from anyone with experience of similar or anyone who happens to know their s**t!

Hope that everyone is as well as can be and thanks in advance for any advice or simply for reading.

In my first scope back in 2010 (when I was diagnosed), I had many polyps which absolutely terrified me!! However, in subsequent scopes, there's been none. So, it may not be anything to worry about at all. Just be glad it got the chop! Never good to have them hanging about.

I have tons of polyps - like hundreds. Most are small, but occasionally they find a big one and remove it. I don't know if the big ones mean anything, but they can obstruct your colon and they need to go.

Hi crag, I certainly do remember you, welcome back! :) I had 3 or 4 polyps removed at my last colonoscopy (last year). My GI said that they were all non-cancerous and nothing to worry about. They weren't causing me any symptoms either as far as I could tell. My GI said that benign polyps like that are super common even in the healthy population and even children get them sometimes, so it was totally fine and common. I think the term he used to describe my polyps was "aplastic"? Did they tell you what type of polyps you had?

Apparently polyps large and small are a normal occurence at any age, I had a shed tonne of them when I had a colonscopy in 2009, sadly even though I had them removed (as well as a tag/fissure) they just came back with a vengeance (guessing because having constipation 24/7 makes me strain them into existence?) :< but yeah as cat-a-tonic mentioned if they tell you there aplastic you have nothing to worry about :)
